This is the episode in which we are introduced to Sibel Kekilli as Shae. While I think she plays the part very well, I never liked the character, and the actress quickly found her way into japes at House Voice.
Curious what other people think of her...
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
Good performance, she is more likeable in the later seasons. I forgot how brutal she is to Tyrion here. Anyone else notice how she gives nothing away and then manages to get Tyrion's worst secret out of him.
I've read theories that Bronn and Shae are agents of someone: Tywin, Baelish, Varys.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!

Shae at first comes off as most definitely predatory, and I'd argue that it's the addition of Shae (and Bronn)
I think Bronn's his own man, while Shae most certainly is a Varys plant (this is given away by how comfortable she is around Varys in the books) with past history with Tywin.

Any guess as to where Shae was from? I'm going to say Lys because the accent she adopts is sorta similar to Varys who we know definitely has tried to hide his accent.

In the show she's from Lorath. I don't think it's specified in the books.

Idk folks. I'm watching episode ten now and Shae just bugs the hell out of me. She's manipulative, superficial, and preying on Tyrion's deepest pain.
She really is a bitch, isn't she? And why is she so aggressive in refusing to talk about her family? Seems like there's something important behind that. Although I think that it's show only where that occurs.

I don't know about that. I think that maybe she just might be better at playing the game than we might suspect. I see her being an agent of Tywin's before being one of Varys's. She still has her tongue. :::
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?

Where did you pick that up from, just out of curiosity? I don't remember her giving away anything about herself.
No idea. Random memory stuck in my head. I think it comes later, or maybe just in an interview? ...definitely not in this episode. I remember someone behind the scenes saying they loved the actress but had to explain her German accent, so they picked Lorath because it's relatively unknown.
