I'm wondering if the ceremony might have had more impact (to match the music) if Theon had gone full out drown & brought back to life to prove to his family that he was a true Kraken.
On the one hand it might have provided for an opportunity for Theon to have a bit of a dream sequence and we'd get a better introduction to the Drowned God, while on the other hand it would have cemented just how far Theon was willing to go to prove his family loyalty and made the audience really give Theon--who up until this point has been whiny and entitled--much needed "badass" points to get the audience to take him a bit more seriously--but also foreshadow just how far Theon is willing to go in order to prove himself for later on in the season at Winterfell.
Just having his head get a little wet with water seems anti-climatic.
I don't know. That might have been a bit over the top. I think it told the story it meant to tell. Theon was more concerned about his family's reaction to the drowning than the drowning itself. All he did throughout the scene was look over searching for their reaction.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?
