I believe that covers everyone who's commented thus far for this season, but even if you haven't been tagged, feel free to jump on in!
Welcome, one and all to the post-season analysis of Season Two. Having just rewatched the entire Season, I invite everyone who's following along to comment about what your thoughts on Season Two were.
To begin with, I'd like to comment how Season Two on the whole remains one of the lesser seasons. I don't enjoy it as much as Season One, but there are elements here and there that I rather like nonetheless. This is the third time I've watched the season straight through, and it's parts are better than the sum whole of it, I'd argue.
It's rather obvious that more effort was put into making Blackwater a great episode than the rest of the series up on as high a quality product as they could make. As such, some episodes this season really feel slack or alternatively flabby.
The episode not to miss this season is definitely Blackwater, which could possibly stand alone as a TV movie with the way that it's written.
Other than that, a lot of this season, as I've mentioned before feels like we're transitioning from one state of being to another, and that we're caught in the middle. It's a very similar feeling I'm getting from having recently reread AFFC and ADWD early chapters, and how I felt about ACOK as a book in general.
We're in medias res, and season and books manage to do a lot with a lot of characters while in medias res by extending how long the middle goes than people are normally used to in storytelling, I'd say.
Liked all the Harrenhal scenes. Imagining those bits from this season cut into a movie. Tywin and Arya Tyrion and Cersei Also, started seeing the deal with Sansa and The Hound.
