Now this is a rather intriguing video, mostly based on info I skimmed through in The World of Ice and Fire (Essos has never really been all that compelling to me), but this might have been an idea that Martin has toyed with at some point, and wouldn't that just make the fans' heads explode if this were to come to pass?

I feel like Martin has toyed with a lot of ideas at some point. It's part of the reason why I've never understood fans to be so sure of what's going to happen in this series. Not because Martin is some masterful deceiver and so he'll pull the rug out from underneath us with a clever trick that we never saw coming, but because he puts out so much information and loose threads that ultimately go nowhere so it's hard to actually say what we're supposed to pay attention to. At this point, I'm going to be more surprised at finding out what was the actual plot of the series was more than anything. The game of thrones has spun its web into circles, ice zombies have done fuck all for 5 books, Aegon jumps in and stirs the pot for the recreation of the Dance, the Dornish have some masterful revenge that hopefully goes somewhere, Dany is still in Essos doing fuck all, does the Baratheon line matter or the Targaryen line, blah blah blah. If you try and tell me where this story's going I'll call you a liar. It's a mess. A fun one that we all love, but a mess.
That being said, is it possible that Westoros and Essos connect, and Yi Ti forms a second Wall guarding Essos from the Others? Sure, but fuck you George for never even mentioning this in the books. You're gonna pull this plot point out 6 books in? Fuck off. If Yi Ti is important to the story, it should be mentioned. I shouldn't have to read some companion book to get info for basic plot points, and you shouldn't be pulling it out of nowhere in the last 86% of the series. Yes, you've mentioned a billion times that Dany needs to go east to go west. Dany also has dragons that will be able to fly across oceans. You've also mentioned the need for Dany to have a navy to get to Westoros like a billion times. Suddenly revealing that she can just walk east and wind up in Westoros isn't a clever trick, it's lazy storytelling that you just suddenly pulled it out of your ass that the two places wind up together because you happened to have blocked off the map that shows this. Someone in story should know this shit and have just said "why don't you don't go through Yi Ti blah blah blah" a long time ago.
Your lordship lost a son at the Red Wedding. I lost four upon the Blackwater. And why? Because the Lannisters stole the throne. Go to King’s Landing and look on Tommen with your own eyes, if you doubt me. A blind man could see it. What does Stannis offer you? Vengeance. Vengeance for my sons and yours, for your husbands and your fathers and your brothers. Vengeance for your murdered lord, your murdered king, your butchered princes. Vengeance!
