I'm having a really hard time finding a redeeming aspect of this episode.
Help me...
lol
Robert Strong ripping off that guy's head was kind of cool. And at least the BWB being 'evil' was resolved as just three guys going rogue.
Not sure how to feel about this episode. The poorly written Arya/Waif interaction from last week was confirmed, and Arya should be dead by all accounts. I'm glad she's not, but I wish they would've wrote it way better than they had. Blackfish was underused and did he die off screen? I was laying down while watching because I suffered from food poisoning today and it made the screen very dark. If so, that's just bullshit.
I was half expecting Dany to go, "All right, which one of you fucked up?" when she entered the pyramid.
The Arya storyline was good imo. resolves her HoBaW storyline and gets her setting off for home. i get that no one else here liked it, but i enjoyed it. Arya knew that she'd have to lead the waif to her trap in order to survive, and she played it well. loved her interactions with Lady Crane, loved how once she had needle in hand she doused the light, and i loved her final interaction with KM.
on a rewatch, i really liked Brienne and Jamie's scene. both of them absolutely killed it, and i hope it isn't their last interaction because these two really play off each other well. It makes me wonder if they are setting up cersei's letter to be in ep 10, where she tells him that there will be no trial by combat and Jamie burns the letter and takes the Lannister forces north instead of south to KL...
i stated my suspicions regarding King puppet's proclamation being Marg's revenge against Cersei in the as we watch thread, and other than "I choose violence" scene, KL was a bore (as it has been for some time).
loved Sandor and Beric/Thoros scenes. Was surprised that Beric and Thoros have such a focus on the North, and i'm interested in where that goes. i hope that Sandor becomes a force for justice, and i think that is what they are setting him up to be (i'm starting to wonder if they go north and he finds someone he can follow with honor in Jon/Sansa? It would nicely wrap up his intention to serve Robb by becoming Jon's champion...)
Mereen, well, at least maybe this is almost over. On rewatch i caught that Varys is going back to KL, but it didn't make much sense to me as to why he's going. think this is set up to have the Greyjoy fleet arrive in ep 10 and break the siege and we'll get the end of that storyline this season... i can hope anyway.
all in all, i liked this episode as much as the last two, maybe a little more because of the Arya storyline. it was the final setup for the last 2 episodes, and i'm looking forward to the battle of the bastards and this season's conclusion. i'm adjusting my vote to a 7. was entertained the whole time, and i'm interested in the resolution to most of the storylines they brought up in this episode.
I have to say, Tze, that I felt the same way about Jaime and Brienne. Also, I liked the end of Arya. The candle and the blood oranges threw me enough forum-theory love to make me happy And funny how Beric and Thoros, in aaallll of Westeros, got the Others memo WWS, I agree with you that Barry makes more sense playing himself than Tyrion does. Too bad he's dead, lol. The part of the Book-Blackfish will be played by Petyr Baelish, I'm guessing. Surprisingly not psyched about Bastard Bowl. In my head, it would end with Jon warging into the dogs to kill Ramsey. Instead I'm afraid for Ghost
I gave it a 2....What did i like.Edmure's conversation with Jamie and that's only because of Tobias's acting to be honest. The fact that Cersie no longer has Trial by combat to get herself out of this intrigues me.

Makes Robert Strong pointless though. Unless they set up some other reason for him to fight Sandor.
I am the hybrid prophesied to return to Westeros.org and stand in its ashes.

I didn't even think of that. But you're 100% right. What is the point in Robert Strong if Cersei cannot have a TbC?
Mayhaps he was only a very large red herring to distract us from the wildfire cache?
