I'm not a fan of disregarding timelines, I believe there's a method to the madness. But, there are certainly some discrepancies that warrant attention. Either GRRM was wrong, or Dany was... I think... I don't think they can both be right, but I would defer to people who actually can remember the timeline. ...paging regular jon umber , Wraith , BeautifulBacon , markg171 , whitewolfstark , everyone who isn't voice.... LOL
I can handle the pre-history chronology pretty well, but I don't know how people keep all the Sack/Battle of the Bells/etc stuff straight in their heads. I take my hat off to them. I'm probably overdue for a glance at our timeline thread.
I don't think they are both right i think GRRM is right and answered correctly,Jon is 8-9mths older than Dany whatever Dany's real birthdate is.I also believe him when he advises putting down the ruler.Every person who has tried to figure this out have subjective aspects that they place emphasis on.Hell we have conversations about how fast horses could run in winter.Alot of things don't seem right with the timelines of battles and how long they occured in relation to another event. There's human error involved when it comes to details being recalled by certain characters,However, somethings are just to glaring to dismiss.
The one bit of info that we have that's a signpost is Dany's,but if you believe Jon's parentage is a secret (as the author has established it as) then this isn't going to be undone by addition. And i know many have said "it narrows it down to Rhaegar,Hghtower,Whent and Dayne" at the tower any of them could be the father so that's the line-up.Ok Lya fell for one of her "captors/rescuers" is what we are going for right?
Except and this is just how i'm reading it,i don't think Rhaegar and co had anything to do with Lyannas disappearance.Somone made it seem that way but i don't think it was them.
Possible, but like Arya, I don't think Lyanna was troubled by little trifles like *consequences*.
LOL! There is no higher honor than warranting such anticipation.
While I have often made the same argument (though, less directly LOL), there is a strong counterargument. And, it happens to be one that fits quite nicely with the idea of Arthur+Lyanna. The counterargument is sex to cope with grief.
We've seen a diverse range of characters turn to sex to cope with the grief of murdered family members. When doing so, the sex has universally involved the breaking of vows, iirc. The sex has also universally not been with members of the murderer's family.
True but i'll use the arguement that in her eyes these men would still connected to the Targs, loyal to the Targs;the same people responsible for the death of members of her family.
