This is the night that Arya killed Dareon. She wakes up blind the next morning. Damned if she's not having a CAT DREAM!
Wonder if it has something to do with her cat catching in KL. the Tom with the ears chewed off belonged to Rhaegar's kids, right? Maybe she bonded with the cats.
there's another cat warging scene, but it's when she's awake. I can't remember where, but she's in a room with someone (the kindly man?) and zips into a cat for an instant. Might be when she's blind? I'll let you know in November when I make it that far
This is right after she's been Cat of the canals. She had all the cats following her for the seafood she was selling. Right after this is when she goes blind. Then, while she's blind she uses that cat in the tavern to spy on people (I think the slavers that stopped at Hardhome) Then the cat follows her back to the HoBaW so that she can see that it's the KM hitting her. But now that you said it, I wonder how far back her connection to the cats really does go? Yeah that tom was Princess Raenys's cat, Balerion. At least I assume it was... Hmmm...
Really think you'll make it that far through AFFC by November?
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?

Nice rubber ducky- I'm having an avatar identification crisis right now and can't make up my mind.
i knew what you meant about when she went blind, just wondering if she became connected to cats earlier. I will see if I pick up more cats around her. Isn't it also unusual for people to skinchange into multiple animals? Most people just one type, like with wargs? I guess Bran can do it, because he was able to reach out to the weirwood as early as Clash.
I wonder if we'll see Sansa do any of this. She had the one Lady dream in KL. I'm thinking no, though, because I think Sansa stopped being a Stark when Lady died. She chose another over her family.

Thanks. It was in the other pic, you just couldn't see it that well. I told Ser Duncan that I was going to go look for it last night when you put up the Elmo avatar. Thought it might attract an Ernie...
From what was in the Varamyr prologue, if I remember correctly, it's not too common to have multiple familiars. I thought he said that cats were hard to control too. Sounds like the Starks might be particularly talented... I wonder about Sansa too. I don't even remember the dream you're referring to, either missed it or completely forgot about it. I know SlyWren was talking about her not that long ago on heresy. I'm pretty sure I agreed with what she said and even may have added to it, but damned if I can remember what it all was at this point. I'm pretty sure it was about her singing and being a little bird. I definitely agree that Lady being killed had a big impact on her identity as a Stark. I'm still hopeful that some day she will find at least a bit of common sense somewhere and at least make an attempt to regain her Stark-ness. If she ever does skinchange, I could imagine it being a bird.

Here is one I missed at the beginning of GoT - "this one is for Melinda"
Hmmmm.... Melinda, Melisandre, Melanie
When was that and the context? I don't remember that at all, and I just spent 3 months reading it.

AGOT, Sansa III:
Sansa sat up. "Lady," she whispered. For a moment it was as if the direwolf was there in the room, looking at her with those golden eyes, sad and knowing. She had been dreaming, she realized. Lady was with her, and they were running together, and … and … trying to remember was like trying to catch the rain with her fingers. The dream faded, and Lady was dead again.
good catch about the bird! Would also come in handy up in the Vale. The Arryns are falcons, too. Be a good way to scout outside around the mountains and see what's going on.
about my reading progress, fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

I'd forgotten about Sansa's dream. When I thought of Sansa as Singer, I was thinking of Jon's remembering her brushing Lady's coat and singing. Made me think that might be her role. Her "out of the old stories" role. Jon's the Night's King--and maybe King of Winter. Bran's the Greenseer. Rickon's the beastling. Arya's Brave Danny Flint (hopefully with a less horrible ending--although the Mercy scene was disturbing on so many levels). Sansa's the Singer. Knows all the stories, all of the songs. Maybe, just maybe--she's the one who will learn how to commune with birds. And learn their songs, and stories, and info. Just a pet theory (bad pun). Seems like they all have a part in the old stories. Either Sansa has a role--or she ends up dead. Will have to see.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.

Thanks for the quote! I do vaguely remember that. I don't think I was sure if it was supposed to be a wolf dream or just a dream about Lady. I'm thinking you're probably right, and it really was a wolf dream. Don't know if you saw, but Slywren wrote out a little bit of what she had been talking about, that Sansa would be a singer... I don't see where this would preclude her from being a skinchanger as well. I think that it has been pretty well ingrained that Sansa=Bird, no matter which direction he decides to go with it.
Just harassing you a bit with the reading. Seems like you've been making some decent progress lately. Actually enjoying the changing avatars, BTW. Works well with my schizophrenic mind.

Thanks for the reminder. I know I liked it when I read it. Still do. The birds and singing are just so engrained into her character. I don't see where it would preclude her from being a skinchanger as well. Especially if she was able to skinchange a bird. It might actually be quite helpful in that regard. Just speculating...
Sansa might be my least favorite Stark, but I'd still hate for too many more bad things to happen to her.

Oh, please, I'm the last person you need to worry about offending. I don't mind in the least! I like the riding pictures, but they don't look as good so small like that.
I read Sly Wren's bird and stories reference, and I think it's quite clever. I was just too lazy to comment too much. But I pay attention for lots of the clues I see mentioned around here as I continue to plow along. I got through 2 chapters today, but I was out most of the day, too.

One that I didn't catch until a third or fourth reread is that the Blackfish is gay too. His whole banishment from the Tully family was over his getting married and doing his duty. He refused and Hoster never forgave him. He's been a bachelor ever since and is more sensitive than any of the men around Catelyn and Lysa.
Yes, I have a feeling we may find out that the Blackfish was carrying on with another well-known figure from the story sometime circa the early 280s.

Who? I'm trying to think of who'd be close to him. The Lannister uncle who went to see the Doom? Is that Gerion? Hope we see that guy again

^^ Also the talk with Ned about her having the Wolf blood: it took Brandon and Lyanna before their time

I just figured out Dontod ratted out Sansa for her Willas marriage plan
