Dany did make him swear to find a cure. It makes sense that he would have made an attempt to get to the Citadel in Westeros. I'm curious what the grey scale disease will play in the final episodes? Is grey scale and the white walkers similar in some way since dragon glass seems to be the "cure" for both?
I think the name is a hint that it affects dragons, and turns them to stone.
Nah, I think it's just 'stoned created by dragons'.
I do find it intriguing though, after GRRM basically confirming that Ice isn't the only magic that creates wights. If there's multiple elemental magic type, not just ice and fire, then perhaps stone/earth is one of them - grey scale being the stone wightification process. We may also have water - the drowned god/patchface etc theories.
So maybe to defeat one kind of elemental magic you need a tool created with a different kind?
That's a good question. I'm confused why dragonglass is sort of the cure-all for everything in Westeros. As far as the White Walkers, I thought he turned the little baby by some kind of ice magic, so I don't know if he used dragonglass, per se. When you say "cure" when referring to the White Walkers, do you mean because they can be killed by dragonglass? I wonder if the NK is the only ice being with dragonglass plunged in his chest and Uncle Benjen maybe? It's all very confusing to me, but I'm trying to make sense of it.
Someone, Somewhere typed up all the words on the pages of the book that Sam was leafing through. It appeared that dragon glass was part of the cure for gray scale.

SEVEN BLESSINGS TO YOU! I found someone who thinks grey scale is SUPER important in fighting the Others I've been floating that idea EVERYWHERE where I post. (And I do post in lots of places. Or at least I did when I was extremely hopeful that Winds will come out last year.) And nobody gave it a second thought.
Shireen having it and Val being afraid of it is clearly a BIG THING! I just didn't know what to make of it since the wildlings clearly know of it, and think the only cure is a death.
No show Jorah went to Oldtown and met with Sam who's looking for something big, some weapon to fight the others. It's got to have a meaning, right?! Benioff and Weiss did say they'll get to the same end game, but taking different roads...
I'm too excited for words. I mean for me this is big. I've had this idea for years and no valid clue that it might be important. Now it may happen!
If you read my post above dragon glass appears to be part of the cure for gray scale. I don't know how big of a part gray scale will play in the story, but it has to have some roll in it. Otherwise Jorah would just have died and that would have been the end of him. Instead, we find out he made it to the Citadel, with Sam who has the book of answers, and after Dany lands.
Basically, Gray Scale is "Chekov's Gun" and it just got moved from Essos to Westeros. That gun will go off at some point in the final episodes.

I did read your previous post questions. It just sounded like you are not sure if the grey scale and white walkers are somehow similar since both can be cured with dragonglass.
I did though want to ask how did you know that grey scaled is cured with dragonglass, but I forgot in my excitement.
Glad to see that the greyscale as a weapon against Others has more followers than I thought!!!
“Don’t fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle everywhere. Always, in your mind.”
Someone told me that Jorah definitely grabbed Sam. I missed that. Did it happen? Why would he be such a dick about it and try to infect someone else?
eta: maybe jorah will start a plague in Westeros?
I still haven't rewatched it but I'll sure pay attention to that now. I didn't think he did. But on the other hand (oops, bad pun ) why would he try to put his hand out when he could have just asked?! So... maybe. Funny. I don't think he did though. More like a "shock" move from Benioff and Weiss to make sure we get a scare and recognize Jorah(?). Though I must say that out of every actor in the show but Fillane and McShane I'd recognize Iain Glen's voice anywhere...

I just posted in the American Gods thread if Ian McShane had been in GOT! I knew he looked familiar!

I think the dragon glass criticism is fair. It seems that so many possible solutions for major world problems are on "Dragonstone" the title of the episode. Many fans have pointed out that Stannis already told Sam about the abundance of dragon glass on Dragonstone. While it was nice to see Sam take a break from cleaning all the chamber pots in the Citadel it was an unnecessary risk to break into the "restricted" area to learn something he presumably already should have known. :55 Stannis makes it pretty clear.
Maybe HBO can make us an infographic to explain all the things that dragonglass can do.
Dragon Glass = Penicillin everyone in Westeros knows this. And if you grind it up nice and fine and ferment it it becomes a strong IPA that will knock you on your ass...

Lol Brother Ray! But I'll remember him as Al Swearangen every day of my life. Had no idea he's in American Gods. Maybe I'll check it out.

Just don't watch it with kids around. I saw more dick in the first 3 episodes than probably your average porno.
