Oh well, guess that's what happens when you end up having to pay your four top stars (a total of) $4.5 million per episode. Make no mistake, that's why we're 7 episodes short. Cutting those eps saved HBO over $30 million just on the salaries of Dinklage, Heady, Harington & Clarke.
i greatly dislike this argument, regardless of the context be it actors, athletes, musicians, or artists. The actors deserve what they earn more so than some smarmy, greedy executives who did nothing but collect the profits from the work of others. You want to complain about people making too much, start pointing the fingers at the one who really deserve it instead of the ones getting honest compensation for their work. yeah, to the average joe it would seem a million an episode is a lot, but tell me what the executives at HBO, or AMC, or any of the other networks hosting your favorite show are making for sitting on their ass and enjoying the high life and profiting from the work of others. Those are the ones that are limiting budgets to maximize profits for themselves, not the actors that are just trying to get a piece of the pie for the work they put into it.
Hell, why not bitch about Martin for the fortune he's gotten by allowing the adaptation? or Ddumb and Ddumber? maybe their cut could have provided the extra capital you're complaining about.
/steps off soapbox - apologies to PoG, not necessarily directed at you particularly, just an argument that trips my trigger...
Woah tzalaran, !! I never said they didn't deserve the money brah It was meant to be a more "victim-of-their-own-success" type deal. That said, your point is hopelessly naive (sorry). HBO is owned by Time Warner which is a publicly traded company. Like it or not, the executives have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to make them the most money that they can. That is the world. You can argue that the actors make more of a contribution but without someone fronting up the cash to pay for sets, costumes, scripts, vfx, locations, transport (I could go on but you get the point). Well without all that, the actors can't act.
I do completely share your feelings about the worth of actors though but it comes from a basic economic principal, supply and demand. There are (relatively) few people who can do what top actors, sports personalities or musicians can do and as such the value placed on their labour is commensurate to wealth generated.
some smarmy, greedy executives who did nothing but collect the profits from the work of others.
I get the hostility toward the executives, I do but Thrones is actually a pretty good example of why that hostility can be misplaced. Take the exec who greenlit Thrones, for example. This person took a huge risk, they most likely put their job on the line to get the show made. They secured the money required to film such an ambitious project. If Thrones had flopped after season 1, that exec would have been cleaning out their desk. Now it's not creating anything or acting or whatever but it is doing their job very, very well. They had the vision to see that this could be a success and they made their company a shit-illion dollars. Do they not deserve to be rewarded for doing their job well? Just as any actor or director or writer ?
One final point, due the nature of HBO economic model being subscription based (as opposed to advertiser based), they have reached a saturation point. Thrones is not bringing in the subscribers as it did in the earlier seasons (because everybody who would get HBO for Thrones already has) and it remains the most expensive show of all-time. Costs needed to be cut and unfortunately network execs salaries are not generally part of a shows shooting budget !! HBO isn't gonna sink X millions of dollars into the last 2 seasons of Thrones just to keep fans happy, if it didn't remain financially viable they would have canned it.
Apologies Tza if this angers you further buddy and I will stress that I don't really like how the world is but truthfully, bagging on execs for simply "profiting of the work of others" is as obtuse and indefensible a position as suggesting that highly skilled entertainers are overpaid.

And, down already.
Regarding compensation, it should make you feel better that, really, no one is paid what they "deserve." People who play games for a living get rich because lots of schlubs like us go see them play. Lawyers should all be shot, hanged, drowned, or dismembered, and they're mostly doing well financially. It is what it is, mate.

Jon receives a raven from Winterfell telling him about the arrival of Bran and Arya. When Daenerys returns from the battle against the Lannisters, Jon pets one of her dragons. Davos smuggles Tyrion into King's Landing where he has a secret meeting with Jaime (arranged by Bronn). In the meantime Davos searches and finds Gendry in Kíng's Landing. He convinces him to accompany them, and finally Davos, Tyrion and Gendry leave by boat towards Dragonstone. Qyburn examines Cersei and finds she is pregnant. Cersei tells Jaime about it. In Winterfell, Littlefinger tries to manipulate the Stark sisters into a confrontation. Jorah, cured from the Greyscale, arrives at Dragonstone. Sam, Gilly and Little Sam leave Oldtown towards Winterfell. After realising they have to provide proof of the danger coming from the North, Jon, Davos, Jorah and Gendry leave by boat towards Eastwatch-on-the-Sea to capture a wight.
Location Unknown (Maybe at the battle site) Daenerys lets Drogon burn some lords who survived the battle as traitors, including Randyll and Dickon Tarly.
"Dany gets a bit… determined, now that she's set foot on Westeros. Which worries Varys and Tyrion, who have been hoping she isn't as power mad as her dad. She torches a few rulers to make some points (including Sam's Dad and brother), so she's clearly not above using fear to rule after all."
[PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "Tyrion isn't always successful - when they round up the survivors after this altercation the Tarlys are among them - Cersei had persuaded them earlier to switch allegiance from The Reach to her, on the basis that she was the one true Queen. Randal Tarly actually buys into this, and when Dany offers to let him bend the knee, he refuses. She orders Drogon to burn him and Dickon alive, which horrifies Tyrion - he can't see the point."
Dragonstone Jon receives a raven from Winterfell telling him about the arrival of Bran and Arya.
[Jon] "does get a raven in Ep 5 telling him that the others are back. He's glad, but hasn't time to think about it."
"Jon doesn't lay eyes on Arya or Bran this season at all."
Dragonstone When Daenerys returns from the battle against the Lannisters, Jon pets one of her dragons.
"He greets her on return from a battle, and she notes that he isn't scared of Drogon, and even pets him. Drogon lets him. She is puzzled by this, it bothers her slightly."
[PM to KaySen762]: "In the script it's definitely Drogon [who Jon pets]. Maybe they've changed it, but the Dragon he's petting is the one Dany is riding, and she only rides Drogon, right?"
[PM to maureencreates]: "Jon isn't at [the attack on the Lannister army between Highgarden and King's Landing], he's not completely aligned with Dany at this point, although he's at Dragonstone when she returns. This is when he pets Drogon."
King's Landing Davos smuggles Tyrion into King's Landing where he has a secret meeting with Jaime (arranged by Bronn). In the meantime Davos searches and finds Gendry in Kíng's Landing. He convinces him to accompany him back to Dragonstone, and finally Davos, Tyrion and Gendry leave by boat.
[Gendry will appear] "in 2 episodes".
[Gendry is] "in Kings Landing making weapons. Davis will joke about him rowing when he finds him though."
[Gendry's weapon is not Robert's hammer] "It's a new one he's made himself."
[PM to EveryFckngChicken]: "He's been hiding in plain sight at Kings Landing. Tyrion and Davos go to Kings Landing for a secret meeting with Jaime -while they're there Davos seeks out Gendry. He tells the lad he could have a part to play and offers him the chance to fight for something. To be honest this bit feels a bit fan-servicey. But I like Gendry, so I'm not complaining."
[PM to EveryFckngChicken]: "It is a bit fanservicey actually. He joins Jon's posse who head north to capture a Wight. He doesn't have a sword though - he swings a hammer like his father!"
[PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "Tyrion adn Davos sneak into the city, with the help of Bronn, to meet Jaime (who isn't expecting the meeting, Bronn tricks him). He wants to reason with him, but it doesn't pan out. Davos seeks out Gendry while he does this - this bit feels a bit fan servicey, but again, I didn't write it."
[PM to maureencreates]: [Tyrion] "does go on a secret meeting to talk to Jaime. He wants to try and persuade him that Cersei needs to surrender to Dany, but this obviously falls on deaf ears. Jaime can't really deal with Tyrion after everything that has happened."
King's Landing Qyburn examines Cersei and finds she is pregnant. Cersei tells Jaime about it.
[Cersei] "does get pregnant again by Jaime. And does some serious scheming."
"The timeline [when Jaime and Cerse have sex] is a bit fuzzy as usual on the show. Needless to say they don't specify which time Jaime did the business, but it's implied that their relationship has been sexual ever since he returned from Dorne."
"And while she is examined by Qyburn in 5, there will be the odd hint that she suspects something before that (otherwise why ask him to examine…)"
[Cersei] "seems pleased about" [the pregnancy].
[Jaime] "finds out pretty much the same scene she does, a few minutes after Qyburn has examined her."
[PM to flowercrownss]: "Maester Qyburn examines her when she suspects she's pregnant. She tells Jaime almost immediately afterwards."
Winterfell / Eastwatch-by-the-Sea Bran sends a flock of ravens to Eastwatch.
[4chan leaker]: "there's a sequence where bran controls a flock of ravens and sends them to eastwatch".
Winterfell In Winterfell, Littlefinger tries to manipulate the Stark sisters into a confrontation.
Dragonstone Jorah, cured from the Greyscale, arrives at Dragonstone.
"Jorah goes to Old- Town, get's cured from the greyscale by Sam, then by the 5th episode he's found his way to Dragonstone and Dany, who is more than happy to see him."
"Jorah returns to Dany a few minutes into Episode 5, and the first thing he sees is her and Jon standing very close together and talking - I think right away he's aware that she has somewhat of a close relationship with Jon."
"Jon says he's glad that Ned never caught and killed Jorah. Jorah says he's pretty glad about that too!"
"Jorah is from the North himself, and he's a few unresolved issues about his father that chatting to Jon could maybe help address."
[PM to maureencreates]: "Jorah is a wee bit miffed when he first meets Jon - he's stolen his Khaleesi! But he soon warmed to him. There's going to be a pretty touching scene where Jon tries to give Longclaw to Jorah, but Jorah turns it down, saying he was never the son his father deserved and that he gave it to Jon, so he should keep it. Both men have daddy issues, so theyr're pretty quickly friends."
Oldtown Sam, Gilly and Little Sam leave Oldtown for Winterfell.
"Sam has been doing general dogsbody work in Old Town, but he decides in Ep 5 he's had enough and leaves for Winterfell with Gilly and Little Sam. Gilly is actually the one who discovers the record of the annulment of Rhaegar's first marriage and the action of the second, in the journals of a Maester who kept meticulous records.
[PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: [Gilly is] "learning to read, and getting better at it quick. Sam's a good teacher (as you'd imagine). But she's not great on pronounciation of new words, which is why when she reads about the annulment she mentions someone called... "Ragger". Sam doesn't pay much attention to this until MUCH later in the season, but he remembers it.
[PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: [Sam is]"more than aware that Jon is now at Winterfell (Maester Wolkan will be keeping them informed), and Jon's his best mate."
Dragonstone After realising they have to provide proof of the danger coming from the North, Jon, Davos, Jorah and Gendry leave by boat towards Eastwatch-on-the-Sea to capture a wight.
"Well, there's a touch of strategising on how to take on the Lannisters, who destroy the Martells and Tyrells pretty easily in the first few episodes - Westoros isn't the pushover that Dany expects, and Jaime is a better strategist than Tyrion gives him credit for."
"Tyrion persuades her that most of the people who would die in a direct dragon attack on Kings Landing would be innocent."
"After an ill advised attack on Kings Landing, Jon realises that what he needs to do is provide proof of the Undead Army."
"Jon goes North to capture an Undead - Dany goes too. He, Davos, Jorah and Gendry take a skiff to Eastwatch-On-The-Sea, where Tormund is manning. He has The Hound, Beric and Thoros in the Dungeon - they've been heading north too (following the 'Lord of Light's command that Beric has got into his head)."
[Farewell dialogue between Jon and Daenerys at the boat]: "He says "if I don't return, at least you won't have to deal with the King in the North any more". Dany says "I've gotten used to him" "

Hi. I am new here but a very active member on the Amino app. I am stern supporter of the A+L=J and R+A=D theories
Usually I avoid spoilers but unfortunately someone spoiled something that will happen in Oldtown im E5.
I absolutely do not think this will happen! It would be so dumm and stupid. I know people stated that the leaks are quite accurate, but with the E5 and 7 leaks about the RLJ reveal, it rather seemz to me that HBD directed the leaks themselves. They made the first accurate to troll with those.
Because it would be cheaper than some teenage fanfic story.
The handling of the RLJ plot is beyond stupid fow now if this will be true.
- they hint it throughout the seasons - they make 6.10 a cliffhanger with some whisper - they publish an infochart and confirm RLJ - they let people make posts and youtube videos about Jon Targaryen for a year - shortly before S7 they make actors say, we have actually an X in the formula - they forbid actors to comment on RLJ - they now hint Jon Targaryen is strongly in each episode
....only to confirm it im S7 (or not?)
What???? This would be the worst and most stupid that HBO has ever done.
- shortly before S7 they make actors say, we have actually an X in the formula
I don't remember this. SlyWren, does this ring a bell?
Who said it? What was the context?
I don't know how to hide the spoiler here as you did in previous posts. Lol
I saw several interviews of actors on youtube. Kit Harington madw very clear that we do not know who Jons father is. We have an x still. He did this in several promo interviews for S7.
I was referring to the RLJ theory leaks in 7.5 and 7.7

hello Ashara, I'm very glad you eventually sign up !!

That's awesome! Glad to hear that the actors aren't just referring people to that ridicuous infographic.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
And great points, all. I'm reminded of their efforts to hide one Ser Arthur Dayne, Sword of the Morning, from us as well. That "Alfred Hunrith" nonsense.
I just had a thought, it would have been really cool if they had kept the rest of the Dosh Khaleen around Dany. They could have acted as sort of handmaidens/personal guard. It would have been a good look visually and the elder khaleesi could have been a sort of mother figure for Dany, something she's never had. Oh well, guess that's what happens when you end up having to pay your four top stars (a total of) $4.5 million per episode. Make no mistake, that's why we're 7 episodes short. True--though I also think it would have been cool to see some of them grumble at her.
But they already did the "Dothraki attendant" stuff in Qarth. So, they may just have wanted to skip it.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.
I understand that a possible interpretation of that scene was that it was just an Easter Egg for book readers, born under a bleeding star and all that, but I’m not completely buying it was the only reason.
They spent way too much time on it for an easter egg.
And when Ned went into the room and propped it against Lyanna's bed, the sword was in focus. Lyanna--the one Ned came for--was not.
Lyanna played second fiddle to the sword--at least for a few moments.
so I’m going to go ahead and continue to delude myself that Sam will find something relevant about the sword at the Citadel. Only after he fulfills all other plot points while recopying those scrolls, of course.
There's some speculation/possible spoilers that Sam just grabs a bunch of scrolls and runs before finding anything too important.
Which would be stupid if we have to wait until next season.
But he's looking for weaponry and history of the Long Night. Makes sense he'd find out about the Last Hero (who I'm not sure has even been mentioned in the show) and his sword.
Great points, SlyWren and I do agree with you on many of these! At this point, however, with the leaks turning out to be pretty much dead-on, I don’t know if I can chalk it up to just trolling anymore. Whomever sprung those leaks, it seems like they had some version of a script. It’s just too accurate. If it was a controlled leak, or if there is some fan conjecture mixed in with actual details, then maybe. However, it just seems more obvious each week what they are going for.
Very possible--but I will add two more bits of evidence to the "trolling" argument:
2. BUT at the exact same time: HBO is also having Harington say in interviews that the parentage isn’t confirmed. As of 11 July 2017. Even as he says “it looks clear that this fan theory is going to come true.” From the same guy that told us he was never coming back to the show. Huh.
It’s important to say at the moment that it looks clear that this fan theory is going to come true, but we don’t know that yet. We know Lyanna Stark is his mother, but we don’t know who his father is for sure yet. But when I read all of that, I was very excited by it. There’s obviously been this mystery for him for many seasons and many years. I love that he doesn’t know about it. We all know about it, but he’s completely in the dark about it. As far as he knows, he’s still the illegitimate child of Ned Stark and some southern woman somewhere. That’s all he thinks.
So--they are confirming AND equivocating at the exact same time, as of 11 July of this year.
Before Jon was resurrected? Flat-out lies and categorical denials.
Smells like a troll to this bird with Dawn-blindness.
So, I'm waving that banner right along with you!

Okay—so here’s how things seem to stand:
1. There are the original August leaks from “awayforthelads.” “Lads’” Reddit account was deleted. The leaks started out as a general outline As “lads” was asked more questions, he/she gave more info—often playing coy. Some answers are even in the form of questions. Could be legit. Could be what “lads” thinks is right based on the more vague outline. Not sure. The general outline and some of the details have held so far.
2. There are later Reddit leaks from “awayforthelads2.” Often more detailed than original “lads.”
3. There are Frikidoctor’s recent leaks via youtube and Reddit. He claims to have complied them from the first “lads” and just elaborates more. Friki’s “leaks” have been generally right, but they have had some clear breaks in accuracy about both general content and specific details. Plus: there’s a bit of a kerfuffle on Reddit right now re: what Friki has said about Cersei’s pregnancy. He’s clearly backtracking and equivocating. No idea who’s right or wrong re: Cersei’s potentially getting pregnant. But one thing’s very clear: Friki is NOT certain of some of his assertions. He’s making educated guesses. Thus that horrible
might not go down as he described (pleas, please, please--whatever the reveal info is, don't let Friki be right about the mythology!)
4. There was GOTit1111 on Reddit. He/she clearly had a source allowing early viewing of episodes. GOTit1111 has not posted in about 2 weeks. Seems to be gone.
5. And now there are leaked scripts purported to be from the recent hack of HBO. I’ve seen 2 different scripts supposedly from the same leak for episode 5. The one sohialo posted is here--see the quote above. Then there’s this one: ETA: OOOPS! It's been taken down.
Both have the same script markings—supposedly showing that they are “real.” (I swear--they have the same markings--even though that image was taken down) BUT: they have fairly large variants in content—including about Sam and Gilly’s reading. The basic outlines first shown in the “lads” leaks are consistent over the two scripts. But the specific content of conversations and other key details—not so much.
BUT: HBO is also having Harington say in interviews that the parentage isn’t confirmed. As of 11 July 2017. Even as he says “it looks clear that this fan theory is going to come true, but we don’t know that yet.” From the same guy that told us he was never coming back to the show.
7. Finally, there’s speculation on Reddit and beyond that Wilf Scolding has been cast as Rhaegar. Some of the reasoning seems interesting at best, but not iron clad. Some are saying he’s on the hacked internal cast lists. But we have multiple versions of leaked scripts purportedly from that same hack. If he is Rhaegar, he looks like he could passably be Dany’s daddy. https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/6ssm87/its_confirmed_wilf_scolding_is_officially_on_the/
Thus, it’s now obvious: 1. Jon was switched at birth with Ramsay in the Westerosi General Hospital. 2. Since Sansa fed Ramsay to his own dogs, there is no hope. 3. The Walkers will eliminate all human life from Westeros. 4. THUS: This all symbolizes Martin’s intent to kill us all—flee now or die in a sea of warm milk.
