That's such a beautiful song. We've only heard snatches of it so far - it's awesome in full length. Close your eyes and listen. Goose bump material. Love it!
That composer doesn't disappoint.
George M. literally forces Robert's love for Lyanna down our throats; he fought a war over her, killed Rhaegar with his great warhammer and even that was not enough to assuage his desire for vengeance. But what about Cersei's feelings on the matter? She had been led to believe she would marry the prince, she wanted him, was probably in love with him, but none of that came to be. From her point of view, when the prince did make a choice, he chose Lyanna. To make matters worse Robert kills her beloved prince, ending any possibility, however faint, that she would ever become his wife. She then has to marry this man to cement an alliance and on her wedding night, hears him whisper the name of her rival in her ear.
Isn't this ever so tragic? I fully understand why she never forgave Robert and fully sympathize with her in this regard.
And possibly even more tragic because she blames Robert, not Rhaegar or even Tywin--who made her a promise he couldn't keep.
And I do think Tywin intended to keep it--I think he was part of starting the war to get rid of Aerys.
I'm never sure how much I sympathize with Book Cersei or if it's a mix with how show-Cersei is played.
I started the books a few years after the show came out--hadn't seen them, but was told it was good.
Then watch the show when I was done--and show Cersei's performance made me feel for book Cersei much more than reading did. Her misery at being a pawn that got misused--the show drove that home for me more.
Though that may mean I just lack reading comprehension.
As far as the truth goes, don't know how D&D will present that. I personally think Rhaegar is only a point of reference and that Aerys is more likely to be Jon's father.
I could see that--especially in the show. Has voice tagged you into his unsullied parentage experiment thread? Aerys was popular in that "study."
