"We've already discussed that many times, and now everyone agrees on this:___________"!
Yes, this does get repeated often. Usually along with a "we see no point in discussing it again". I suppose, if your mind is made up after years and years, it's hard to want to continue to beat the proverbial dead horse! But this here horse is still kicking! So maybe worth discussing!
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

Yup! The bolded is just classic. Instead of letting newbees go at it, they just roll on in with that democratically gotten oppinion and decides for everyone. It's not that hard to just skip it if you have absolutely no intention to discuss. And yup, this horse is still kicking strong!

I think you would really enjoy the heresy boards on the W. I have not read through all of the threads (only about a dozen to tell the truth) as there are a lot. Actually, there are more heresy threads than there are r+l=j threads, but they tackle a ton of information that is commonly accepted and shines a new light on them.
If you go over there, just search Heresy and you will find them. Beware, it's a lot of reading! I stay here most of the time because people are so open-minded but I creep over there to see how the wind is blowing. Heresy is probably the best part of Westeros.

I did take a browse there after first reading the books, and it was a bit too large for me. Combined with aforementioned tendency I decided to go here instead. I've seen some interesting threads there for sure. Overall my first impression was rather unflattering, and that can be death.
I'll keep Herresy in mind if I ponder something in the future, and try to remember the search function. I tend to fall in the browsing-trap... Just curious of what people are thinking about, and ending up thinking "meh, I'll go somewhere else" and miss all the goodies. Thanks!
She and Cersei are very similar in the sense that they really think they are SMART but neither really are. They are actually very similar characters, honestly, and it does surprise me how many people love Cat and hate Cersei! I would like to work all the details out of how similar they are to each other, but as we previously discussed, it's hard to stay in her head too long, or Cersei's.
Hey, I liked Cat. Her flaws all seemed very natural to me. Very tragic character, a lot like Ellaria, just more neurotic. She just wanted to see her grandkids grow up, but was stuck in a political shit storm she had no stomach for.

I am sure that Cersei and Ellaria would like to see their grandchildren grow up, too.
Now, show Cat isn't nearly as dark as book Cat, but even show Cat repeatedly made grand, sweeping decisions that had terrible consequences for her entire family. I don't hate Cat like some people do, but I can certainly recognize her flaws, and I personally think she has some redeeming qualities. But I still think she and Cersei are more alike than they are different. Heck, I recognize Ned's flaws too, and have no problem acknowledging them.

She was a warmwater fish plunged into the icy cold north, out of her element. I do see that part of her story.
I don't however see her as so innocent as many do in the situations she found herself in. My main question is if she was manipulated or not, and which parts were of her making or someone else. If she was manipulated, the question of course becomes who.

The tone of it is just so goddam pretentious. I'm reminded of Melisandre.
