Hell, I gave it a 10, just because they had an ice dragon. Did you notice the little holes in his wings? Was it my imagination or did he seem much faster than Dany's dragons have ever been.

I didn't notice about the dragon, but after you mention it, it did seem to have been turbo charged. I liked the shortest episode with field of fire 2.0 a lot better, tbh but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
i had a few friends that loved it here at home, but they hadn't read the books yet, so there was nothing to cloud their thinking as they watched. I'm still going to watch S8 though.

Yeah, I read the books, but I just had to let go of them. The show was driving me crazy with all of the inconsistencies. I found I enjoyed it much more once I had let go of everything I had read. LOL Sad but true.
For the most part I have really had an issue with this season. To me there was no flow to it. It has some great moments, but in between those moments it has just been aggravating. Most of it felt forced and they were trying to hard to have all of the little reunions all over the place. Sure there are a lot of people I would love to have see each other again, but those reunions did not feel natural at all. Plus a lot of it felt like they were trying to put modern sensibilities into a medieval time period and I found that really annoying. There was way too much talk about defeating your enemies while still having them love you. "War is hell" as Sherman said. It's not about worrying whether or not your enemy will still love you in the morning.

You are right. Exactly what I was thinking, it felt forced. They don't know how to wrap up the show any better than Martin knows how to wrap up his books. At least it didn't get canceled prematurely and we'll see an ending. I'm not entirely pleased that I started the books. Had I known they had a doomed future, I'd probably have passed. I need closure.

Jon's comment regarding Lying was sooo META... that was the only really good piece of writing this episode though.
was enjoyable watching the mummers farce in winterfell play out, but it wasn't well done. dragonpit meeting was underwhelming apart from Jon's one little part. Jamie and Cersei were good at the end when he was leaving, but aside from that KL was flat to me. R+L reveal was pretty bad, and sexytime was underwhelming (no lords kiss, comeon WTF?!?)
visually it was great, top notch cinematography, and i was entertained as much as the best episode this season, so gave this one a 9 as well. overall season gets an 8 for me, plot moved forward significantly, visually and cinematographically stunning, but writing was hokey at best.

That, my friend, may be the best possible summary of season 7.

We had sunshine in December and grew our roses in the snow.
I got LotR, Austin Powers, Romeo, Juliet, and Mothra.
If Ice Dragons melt ice, Fire Dragons should freeze fire instead of create it. Why not just send the damn thing a few more leagues east and have it freeze a path around the Wall?
Just sayin'.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
So I gave it a 2.Cinematography was epic. And Jamie was a standout character to me.Acting wise.
So what tored up from the floor? Everything else.I tried to watch this as it is but I couldn't help it.
I don't care what anyone says this had little to NO source material to go on.This was primarily straight from the fansite.
1.The content was executed Sooooo poorly.
A.The Sansa/Arya taking down of Littlfinger. This was so poorly done.Sansa taking down Little finger has been a fan theory.Arya taking down of LF has been a theory. So of Course the only way to do this was to elicit all seeing Bran to on point an call just check to see how shady LF was.
Will this happen in the books this way.No.Will Baelish bite it on account of Sansa and or Arya? Will he bite it at all? What do hints say?
2.The Dany/Jon romance in this show was forced and cliched.A bit cheesy to parallel on fictitious romance to another fictitious romance.
This is totally a fan thing with no shadow of evidence this will ever happen in the books.
3.The Rlj reveal...I am still laughing because it was straight up fan service and D&D didn't read the books close enough if they think Robert's rebellion started because of this lie.I am sorry but if this crap is true they got thousands killed because..
-Rhaegar was too much of a wuss that he couldn't be a man and challenge Robert to combat? -Lyanna couldn't send a raven apparently so that her family can strategize dealing with Robert. -Lyanna was cool with running off with a married man with kids. -Rhaegar named both sons Aegon?? Are you kidding me? -Septon Maynard? Are you kidding me they didn't have the heart to put Maribald huh? -So what was Lyanna and Rhaegar's plan?
You know holes we have been pointing out for years.
4.Sam to Bran, can you zip in the twilight zone and see if what you can see about a secret marriage? Oh my word. This is....I couldn't write this crap with a straight face.
5.Theon's no nuts saved him.Hitting my head against a wall.
6.Cersie got smarter than everyone in Westeros.
7.Now for the worse part...Cool CGI apart. At this point this NK character in this show better be one uber uber greenseer because what was his plan to get his army through the Wall without a Dragon to blow it up?
D&D you are terrible at this.

Hey Bran, how about going back in time to see how the Others were defeated the last time, HMMMM??? Also, no update on the ice dragon situation?? It would have been helpful if he could have warned Eastwatch that they no longer stood any chance in hell of stopping the NK. Lots of lives lost, and wights created, unnecessarily.
Speaking of wights... it seems the NK won't be gaining any more if he is now going to BURN his enemies. Next he'll wield a burning sword...
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”

So this family tree can now be updated. We now know that Jon = Aegon. Does that make him Aegon VII since Rhaegar already fathered a son named Aegon? Questions like this contribute to my criticism with this episode and more broadly the season as a whole. Season seven progressed rapidly ignoring nuanced details that once made the show great. Very little explanation for major plot lines.
The double naming of son's isn't all that uncommon I suppose. In real life the second baseman for the Texas Rangers name is Rougned Odor not to be confused with his younger minor league brother by the name Rougned Odor.

There's random speculation that the mark on Bran (The Mark of Bran??) let's the Night King "monitor" Bran.
Block what he sees now.
And even send him false memories and info. Full Voldemort rip off.
They are even saying that the parentage reveal was thus "false." NO! That would be ridiculous.
But I wouldn't put it past them to have the Night King be able to influence Bran's sight--he clearly saw Bran watching him and dispersed Bran from his ravens.
Still Bran's lack of curiosity is STUNNING! Has he looked for ANY more memories about Jon's past while . . . meditating?
And why didn't he tell Sansa and Arya?????
Stupid plot contrivance. Stupid.

I'm on my phone now.But if such a thing happen it will be this Family Guy moment where Stewie ends his simulation of killing moment and Brian dings him for having fans sit through the entire thing only to reveal he didn't kill Lois.
Going to piss a lot of people off man.
Someone put that clip up.

It would be precisely that.
But it's just fan fiction--no way.
They are doing exactly what it looks like they are doing. Period. Just enjoy the show.

For me it was a 6/7. I'd be giving it a clear 7 if the reveal wouldn't have been so ugh. Whatever, I'm expecting Howland Reed for the books. With no voiceover when/if they have sex. I love how it took a couple of days to get to White Harbor with the WW threat so close to the Wall. No, let's take our time to have boat sex. Because after all, now we know how deadly is the threat we can relax a bit. Never mind that Bran takes daily rides on those ravens beyond the wall to see everything. I guess for that there's no sense of urgency...

Lol Had no idea Odor had a brother with the same name. Probably his brother has a right hook about as fierce as him when it's time to clear the benches...
Anyway, I also doubt Jon's real name is Aegon in the books. Who names two of his sons the same? Wouldn't there be confusion? Show changed a few names already. I'm thinking they did the same with Jon.
I was considering under what circumstances would book Rhaegar call him Aegon and I could only think to commemorate his dead son, and that's only if he already knew Elia and his other kids are dead. Targaryen's are weird.
