What year was your book published? I have a soft cover and hard cover copy of the novels, and "narrow hips" is included in both of them.
If your book is a more recent edition than mine, I am curious what your copy says about Renly's eyes. In Sansa I, are they green like Renly's armor, or are they blue, as they are later described in Clash?
Honestly, it's almost more of a hassle to change text once it's been published, than to have different editions floating around. Confusing.
2011 Bantam Books Mass Marked Edition, soft cover. I don't know if they would change anything without changing edition as I have no idea of how those things work, but they were bought a year ago and could've been printed somtime in 2016. Renly's eyes are green in Sansa I GoT, and blue in Catelyn II CoK, so that hasn't been changed. I haven't bothered looking for the gender of Jamie's horse. I guess it's changed because it affects the story, unlike eyecolor and horse gender. After all, details like that is what theories are based on. But I agree that it's irritating and confusing in books like this, different information is not good.

It is confusing. Also very interesting, that the author/publishers are willing to change some things, but other things they have never altered. Such as Renly's green eyes from Sansa's POV and his blue eye's from Cat's POV. Perhaps that is not a mistake in the text. Is this supposed to be our first look at how possibly untrustworthy Sansa's POV is? Because it would be a surprise if Renly's eyes were actually green, only that Sansa somehow seen them as green, when they are really blue. Does it have to do with the armor Renly was wearing at the time? Or perhaps Renly's eyes are green, and Cat is the one who is wrong?
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

Well, the changing of an eyecolor could be explained in several ways as you do here. As a mistake it's not that important, as I doubt anyone thinks it was a (f)Renly that crowned himself and gathered an army in Clash. So I don't think about it at all really. A change in bodystructure, unrelated to weightgain, is quite another thing. I get something like that being changed, and too bad it wasn't picked up before it was published.

If it is an acknowledged mistake, and other mistakes are changed, why not the eye color? It just seems odd.
Of course, from Cat we get this:
In their midst, watching and laughing with his young queen by his side, sat a ghost in a golden crown.
Small wonder the lords gather around him with such fervor, she thought, he is Robert come again. Renly was handsome as Robert had been handsome; long of limb and broad of shoulder, with the same coal-black hair, fine and straight, the same deep blue eyes, the same easy smile. The slender circlet around his brows seemed to suit him well. It was soft gold, a ring of roses exquisitely wrought; at the front lifted a stag's head of dark green jade, adorned with golden eyes and golden antlers. ACOK-Catelyn II
And from Sansa we get this:
His companion was a man near twenty whose armor was steel plate of a deep forest-green. He was the handsomest man Sansa had ever set eyes upon; tall and powerfully made, with jet-black hair that fell to his shoulders and framed a clean-shaven face, and laughing green eyes to match his armor. Cradled under one arm was an antlered helm, its magnificent rack shimmering in gold. AGOT-Sansa I
The eye color is the discrepancy and it seems like Sansa is wrong. But ...
I guess I just think it's odd it wasn't corrected. Consistency would indicate if there are mistakes, you fix them all, or you don't fix any of them. Which leads me to believe perhaps this difference in Cat and Sansa's descriptions might be a clue.
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

Well, if it's a clue, the only thing it makes me think about is the green-eyed monster: jealousy. Could refer to both Robert (rebellion) and Renly (current time).

For me, green is associated with Garth Greenhand, and therefore the spreading of seed and life. It also brings to mind the Green Men, that are said to guard the Isle of Faces! Green is in the middle of the color spectrum and might indicate a balance point, but I am not sure how to tie that to Renly.

Haha, I get tied up in all that is implied in that chapter from the past, and so thought of Robert's battle there. With his feelings on that rebellion and Lyanna, being called a demon in that fight, it most certainly makes me think of a green (eyed) monster taking hold of him there. And never really leaving him after...
Later Robert took on kind of an fertility god's role with planting bastards all over the place, and that is tied with Garth Greenhand. Renly, not so much of that. But he also has the imagery of the sacrifived king like Robert did (sorry, can't remember what that imagery is called off the top of my head...)

The whole "demon of the Trident" is some major imagery, and we get it from Ned, of all people. I understand your connection of green to jealousy, but it's not a natural connection for me with the whole story that we are told. But that might be GRRM's intention about Robert, but green is so much more in this story than just Robert and his feelings or actions. I guess that is why I think it must mean something else!
