Did Cersei have sex with euron in order to have a cover story for jaime’s unborn child?
I think so, too! She needs a baby daddy and she thinks Euron is someone she can manipulate. The questions about Robert and Jaime in bed make me think it's meant to draw our attention. Robert was the other man whom she passed her brother's children off on. And now she tries it with Euron. But I think Euron is smarter than she thinks, and might be on to her plan. The way he patted her belly was threatening, and if I was her, I would worry about the baby she is currently carrying.
My other weird thought about this baby, I got a vibe from Cersei about her not being afraid of the army of the dead or the Night's King. It reminded me of how Craster was not afraid, either. Could she somehow be thinking to give a son to the white walkers, much like Craster?
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.
I actually liked the episode better than I thought I would. I was not crazy about season 7 and have never even rewatched it which was a first for me. Now having said that, Jon riding the dragon really did nothing for me. I thought I would love that, but I was just sort of "oh look, Jon's riding a dragon, How silly he looks." I think the real problem is they just took too long to tell the story and lost their momentum.
We had sunshine in December and grew our roses in the snow.
I am a bit excited but more in fear. Last season was such a shit show of special effects and shots that were stunning, but the plot was so poor, and the gaps in reality so large, that I have real fear, even with two years to prepare a short season, that we will get served the same meal!
I share your fear. The Dany and Jon stuff is going to be especially sickening. LOL
Well, I'm keeping an eye for what you all are saying with this season before I might be bothered to watch this one. I only saw the last half of s7, and I haven't even considered to watch the episodes I missed as I totally lost all faith in the show.
Oh, Boat Sex was cringeworthy! I still have not been able to rewatch even one full episode of S7 completely! I have tried but then I find myself saying "nope" and I watch some HGTV instead!
Bahaha! Damn, this almost made my lunch come back up! I had stubbornly eliminated that from my memory, or so I thought... Same here, though. I feel no inclination at all to rewatch that season, or rather watch the whole season.
Yes, lot's of dragons and enough tit's and asses to satisfy most!
I surmise they have rehired that fourteen-year-old who wrote a few scenes in the first few seasons? If so, question: is he still fourteen, or did he somehow not age mentally? I seriously hoped they'd got past phase, but I guess not...
Brienne was standing next to Lyanna Mormont, blink and you miss it appearance Episode was mostly meh. Theon should stop being so unsure of himself, he is doing the right thing, at least do it with some conviction. Tormund so funny. Starting to root for Cersei for some reason. Dany is just so random.
Watching Lyanna Mormont and Ned Umber makes me think of how kickass the show could have been if they used age accurate actors from the very start.
Initial observations/ random musings (beside the obvious that many have already mentioned):
- Euron, when told by Asha/Yara that he is fighting on the wrong side, says he may sail elsewhere... after he fucks the queen. Foreshadowing? IDK, but certainly a reminder that he is not loyal to Cersei. (Also - is anyone else surprised that Yara was completely unharmed??)
- Yara mentions the Iron Islands as a place to fall back to in case Winterfell is lost. Foreshadowing, again? They would need Euron's ships to get there. But how to get them? Euron wants to fuck the queen. Dany is the queen. "One to dread..." - could this still happen???! (Not likely, I know, but in the books we DO see him with dragons in that vision....)
- The dragons are not eating well. They don't like the North. This key fact was overshadowed by the dragon ride, but it's not only a nod to the books but also very concerning, as the weather will only get worse when the Others come closer. Combined with a lack of dragons in the trailer for the battle, and the fact that someone still has to burn down the Red Keep, and the fact that the North is treating Dany like shit and Jon is about to tell her she's not queen.... makes me think more and more that Dany will leave before the big battle. I was just waiting for Sansa to accuse Jon and Dany of handing the Night King his dragon with their bad decisions, which is a fair point. I can see this coming up later though and leading Dany to take the other dragons away to avoid a repeat/keep them safe. Oh and Jon is fighting on foot in the trailers for the battle, so there's that.
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”

Yara is a queen as well. I don't know why she get's to be a queen but Jon has to bend the knee. More hypocricy from the team known as D&D! Anyway, yes, it seems like the Iron Islands are a place being set up as a safe zone, but what about Dragonstone, another island equipped with a castle that could shelter people. One that Daenerys already claims as her own. Oops!

Yes, to make such a point about the dragons not eating well, then have them waste tons of energy on a foreplay ride that takes them to a sheltered place and rips off Jon/Ygritte's cave irritated me. If they are not liking the north or eating well, let them conserve their energy.
Interesting idea on Dany leaving before the battle. My questions is, does she just take her dragons, or does she take her Unsullied and Dothraki, too? Because the previews show Grey Worm fighting in the battle at Winterfell, I think. And Missandei is there, also. If the Night's King brings poor weather, the dragons might not be able to fly. This would be something that D&D could have taken from the published works, such as F&B.
Also, I am so irritated that they had Sam, one of the smartest characters, tell Jon he has always been king. Doesn't Sam remember that the Targaryen's lost Robert's Rebellion and they don't hold the throne, therefore any kingship any more? Just little shit like that is so annoying, when the show can't even remember it's own canon.
It has been some time, but I'm still alive! Needed a little break, and got caught up in knitting a jacket in a norwegian pattern. However, I absolutely suck at knitting with two colors, and when I finally got the hang of that it turns out I got the gauge wrong and so have to start over... again...
Annywho! As I don't have four arms and two heads, I've had a zen-listen to the audio books instead of reading them while battling with my yarns and needles, so I haven't put them on the shelf just yet! Hope to get back into it more again now that the real spring is here! Yes, we actually had a False Spring in February before winter returned, though luckily not with a vengance.

That would be logical. In other words, not D&D's strongest point.

Hm, if so, it would point to them being capable of taking directions again. I did find that burn rather funny, to be honest!

Well, it seems to me that the same argument could be made to most of the kingdom when they are waxing on about rlj and what the entails for Jon. As such it's not unique to D&D, but running rather rampant in the fandom in general.

Ha! I feel your frustration. Nothing like pulling all the yarn from a half completed project out and it builds into a large, kinked up pile in front of you, almost as if it is taunting your failed attempt!

I don't know about taking direction, but they are capable of stealing a good idea when it is placed in front of them. Like Hodor/hold the door and or even having season 6 revisit the books with Jaime's trip to Riverrun after that odd point where they sent him and Bronn to Dorne and dressed them up like sheik's and had them fight the sands snakes and deal with "bad pussy"!

Sure, but the show perpetuates the idea! However, since D&D seem to be telling as story of fan theories/fiction at this point, it makes sense that this is what they roll with. Still, the set up is there for many people to be telling Jon he made a poor choice in trusting in Dany, so it will either go the way of Jon pulling away from Dany, or Jon stubbornly sticking with Dany. Either way, I predict that Jon will have made a mistake! Poor guy just can't catch a break!

I am not convinced but it's a better thought than anything I had. I suppose it would work if Arya want's to take down a dragon or someone riding a dragon, an atlatl would be helpful. I needed that thing when I was throwing a javelin in high school track!

The worst part was that I had actually gotten past knitting the first 5 rows and reaching the impressive length 17 inches or so. Only to find that I lacked almost 3 inches in diameter...
And those balls of yarn when you're done... Sigh! But the best way I've found so far to make it ready for another try, is to wind the kinked yarn into a hank, and then soak it in luke warm water. It straightens out in seconds! Then let it dry and wind into a ball! Yes, I've tried several methods before. Worst was with a lace weight yarn, which is really really thin, and so the amount is never ending in a large project!
But the end result will be beautiful, though! So it's worth a bit of pain in the ass to get there!

Oh, gods! You just reminded me why I gave up the show for lost after reading the books. I didn't really see how bad it actually was until then.
As for taking ideas, like this you mean?
... you can lead a king to water, but with Joff one had to splash it about before he realized he could drink it.

Well, they had to make some intrigue there I guess. They are following the standard recipe after all, and it is always just as frustrating as the first time. I do think it was Jon thinking with his little head there, and that can lead a man into trouble to be sure!

Let's talk opening credits. Lion, headless body, man holding head. The headless body looks like Robb littered with arrows, the head looks like a wolf, the man has no face.
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.
