Well, gotta admit - Martin is having a tough time novelizing all of this...
Certainly, if they had a book to base stuff on, it might be a bit better. But even when they had books to go on, they started merging and melding charater's with the ease in which Gendry is currently "forging" obsidian, so there still might not have been much hope for the show!

Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.
He's not scary in the way book Euron is. He can be funny, but so dumb. "Can they swim?" Apparently D&D don't give a shit about "dead things in the water".
Any chance they've merged Euron with Victarion and pre-Damphair jolly Aeron?
Haha! It's as easy as a few lines of exposition, and boom... we have another Targaryen on the loose and already in Kings Landing, somehow with easy access to the Red Keep and a giant, orderly and well armored army!!! Something has to fill the time in for the episodes after the battle of Winterfell, which seems like they are winding up to have earlier in the season, as opposed to later! And Bran can say, "sorry Jon, I thought you were that baby but it turns out I got the wrong guy, guess you are a bastard after all"!
I would no doubt fall off my chair from laughter!
That would save the storyline, to be sure! And then:
*waiting for the mental disintegration to take place*
These video's from The Dragon Demands are insightful. Of course, listening to how Cogman talks about Sansa, one would think she got herself out of Winterfell, but she did not. It didn't strengthen her, it left her a weak and tearful mess, and it was Theon that saved her, got her out! Perhaps Cogman and crew had intended something different for Sansa's storyline at that point they wrote the script, but then in this very same season we see a wrecked woman with an even more wrecked man who saves her. She doesn't save herself at all, which is the whole argument he uses in this commentary, aka "the story isn't over". And then in the next season, it is Brienne who comes along and saves both Sansa and Theon! Gosh, it must be a huge batch of kool-aid they are passing out in production meetings...
That doesn't really fit with the SuperWarriorPrincessTM theme, so they changed it in their minds after drinking that kool-aid and ignoring that happened on camera.
It was a tragic scene. The more I think about it, and I did watch it three times, (each time I winced more, until one of my eyes twitched shut for about two minutes) the worse it get's. Like their only inspiration for that scene is animated children's movies! Yikes! They could have tried to make it work if the scene had started with Jon saying "hey, I know a place where there might be some food your dragons might like better, a place I used to hunt as a kid..." and then they went there, it addresses the poor eating of the dragons and gives a reason for the flight, not just "hey, the dragons are hungry but who gives a shit, let's buzz Winterfell and then fly off someplace cold so we can get laid". Uugghh!!!
Uhm, that sounds like mental self-flaggelation. You're braver than I am! It's at times like that I'm grateful for my restless fingers, and tend to watch things while I'm knitting.
And of course, it's enough to point to a problem. You don't have to actually do anything about it.

That must be what happened. Seriously. listening to this crock of shite from Cogman was interesting. He was obviously upset by the criticism that came his way (and D&D's) but more to Cogman because he wrote "the rape episode" but that he can seriously sit there and spout about "just wait and see" as if implying this makes Sansa stronger when what they presented in the show as a nearly destroyed, desperate, crying, fearful woman, is what is hard to swallow. The season is already concluded by the time they do the voice overs for the DVD's so he has to know that she didn't rescue her self. Not even close! And so, I really doubt all of their judgement! However, at least he is aware of what his critic's are saying. I don't think D&D pay attention to poor reviews at all!

Which is kind of what they did. Dany says the dragons are not eating, they don't like the north. Jon looks mildly affronted. Then... nothing more about the dragons not eating well or what effect it might have on them. Nope, but since we are out here, why not go for a magic carpet ride? But that doesn't make sense and it feels forced... It would have been so much better to leave Dany looking at the dragons in concern instead of how the scene continued. And all I thought was how many humans could those goats and sheep have fed but that is still not good enough for Dany?
My guess is that the whole writing and production team is just so burned out that even common sense is beyond their capabilities at this point. Which would have been a great reason to bring in people who still care or are interested in details and a cohesive story, who perhaps are fresh and have the ability to see the holes in the story, but either D&D or HBO would not let that happen. I guess HBO is happy with all the viewers, even if the storyline has dropped into Tywin's shitter!
At work, we are going through a large remodel phase, and one of the area's getting remodeled is the Emergency Room. So much focus on new items, a better (that's debatable) work flow, more privacy, etc., that no one noticed there are no paper tower holders by any of the sinks, or that a doorway looking into the trauma room is glass and people can see in from the sidewalk outside. I nearly shit! I think the show is like that. So much focus on one aspect, that you don't even see other issues.
I read a review that stated how the show is playing out like a list of bullet points, with no real lead up to the bullet points, just scenes that address them in the here and now, and that does make sense. Because if D&D do have a list of things that GRRM had planned, but they have no idea how to get from point A to point Z, they just are going to skip B-Y, which of course is why everything is falling so flat and seems rushed. Because there is no story to lead up to Z! It's just suddenly there, it's heavily CGI'd to make us forget about B-Y, and we are expected to take our medicine and like it. Well, I am not stupid, and I feel like they think there audience is stupid. It seems to be how they treat the audience, and that pisses me off. Especially since this show used to be so "smart" and "thorough". It's really quite sad!

Haha! Hard to say what he got pissy about; that his audience has some intelligence perhaps? Or maybe he forgot what he wrote before, and took it out on his critics? Not always easy to say with them Hollyweird types, as they seem to live in their own little world at times.

Oh, but they're her children! Of course nothing is good enough! Never mind the one that got killed.
They probably had to point at the food thing, and have a way to get Jon on that dragon, so they just smacked them together. Logic doesn't have to play any part, it seems.

Yep, they should have brought in some new faces there. As you say, HBO just want the views, and that is pretty much garanteed. I really don't have anything to say about D&D, as I really don't understand them.

Those things happen all the time here as well, to the point where I expect all "reorganizations" to make things worse by one or several magnitudes. To keep it to the hospital theme, due to high immigration, several hospitals have had to be rebuilt as the old ones are too small. Quite a few of those would be too small by the time they would be finished - which was pointed out by staff. Still the building was done, AND delayed, so when by the time it was finished it was even more overcrowded than the warnings had predicted... And it happens EVERY TIME! I'm sure they are hiring the least qualified people to do the job.

I can't argue with that! It's the implications that we are stupid that annoys most, but maybe it is them that are not intelligent enough to finish the story in a satisfying way.

Actually it was interesting on how upset he truly seemed to be, and how emotional he sounded about the characters and the actor's. But so be so unaware of what you are writing is going to be a problem for a lot of viewers??? Just really, really odd. If D&D are like Cogman then they might be clueless to a perception that is different than their own! But being a writer is a lot of perception from many different pov's, something they seem to be lacking.
