Jon has Ygritte, and then symbolically in a couple of scenes, ValI think a lot of emphasis is directed towards Jon, but maybe it's a fake, a feint? Something has to change or the cycle continues. The reader focuses on Jon expecting the cycle to continue, but it's going to turn out that he is all Ice as his wolf Ghost with his weirwood red eyes and white fur. He is of the North.
Arya is the "flood", the water sign and the age of Aquarius that will come in to break the cycle.
These associations are made not because of generalizations about their character, but based on specific symbols and words George has chosen to place around each. I have detailed analysis of Visenya, Rhaenys, and Aegon, which I will post sometimes so you can have a look. Visenya's symbolism is consistently icy. Of course she is a Targ, a dragon - but George looks for ways to imply this repeating pattern all over the place, with all the major characters, more or less, and finds clever ways to do so. Ygritte is kissed by fire, and is huddled around a fire when Jon "steals" her in the midst of an astronomy metaphor laden chapter.
Jon is Azor Ahai reborn in an icy sheath, in that he is a dragon-blooded person, but tempered in the icy blood of the Starks. Red fire and black ice, as he sees himself in his dream. He is of the north, surely, but he still has that dragon blood. He ticks off all the Azor Ahai checkmarks. Of course, I am pretty sure the original Azor Ahai came north too, so again this is a repeating pattern.
Jon and Dany both show Nissa and AA symbolism, so that could really work out a number of ways. Jon has already been sacrificed, perhaps like NN, so let's see what is "forged" by his resurrection.
