It's basically how I've always pictured Euron in my head
He made a decent Blackbeard in Pirates of the Carribean, but IMO he's too big to be Euron (Mcshane's not tall but he's wide and has thick features). Euron I've always thought of having an emotional/mental presence, but not really a physical presence. He walks into a room and he makes people uncomfortable because they're not sure what he'll do, not because he can physically kick their ass. McShane's also 72. GOT upped all the character's ages but Euron should only be like max 50 in the show's timeline.
Hence why I hope they somehow cast Mads Mikkelsen as Euron. He's 49, looks the part, and has proven he can do the creepy presence in Hannibal (which he's currently free from now as it got cancelled)
Your lordship lost a son at the Red Wedding. I lost four upon the Blackwater. And why? Because the Lannisters stole the throne. Go to King’s Landing and look on Tommen with your own eyes, if you doubt me. A blind man could see it. What does Stannis offer you? Vengeance. Vengeance for my sons and yours, for your husbands and your fathers and your brothers. Vengeance for your murdered lord, your murdered king, your butchered princes. Vengeance!

Isn't it funny how we all picture characters so differently in our own head cannon? When I saw that picture of McShane, I was stunned because that was how I pictured him all along. Never before had I seen a pic that I thought was accurate. Plus I'm not sure that he really looks 72. I would imagine that someone who was on a boat all of the time would have a bit of a leathery or lined appearance. To me, Mikkelsen, though a decent actor, is too fine featured, as well as too fair and smooth complected. So, basically, the reasons you don't like him seem to be the same reasons that I do. Lol. :::
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?
Stealing this from Westoros but a Twitter account that at least claims to be Max von Sydow, AKA the new Bloodraven, tweeted an interesting thing yesterday
.@maisie_Williams @iwanrheon @nikolajcw @sophiet @ericroberts Proud to be joining the "House". #GameofThrones #GOT
Now what's interesting about the tweet? They tagged Eric Roberts... who so far has not appeared on Game of Thrones. And Eric Roberts' official Twtter account retweeted the tweet. link
So possibly Eric Roberts has been cast for season 6. I'm like 99% positive it wasn't the real Max who tweeted (the account only has like 500 followers), but weird that Roberts official Twitter retweeted it if he's not part of Game of Thrones

His accent will be worse than Tyrion's. I could see him as Euron with that craggy face
If Eric's retweet actually meant anything (which is the only part of the story that matters), then if he was Euron it wouldn't actually be that bad if he didn't have a UK accent seeing as Euron is a pirate who's been all over the world. In the books Euron's only been gone for 3 years so he'd still talk like an ironborn, but the show could easily just say he's been gone for a lot longer. So he wouldn't really need an accent for that part at least.
I dunno though, he could've just been retweeting it because his assistant did it and didn't know better, or he didn't know what the tweet implied (that he'd joined GOT) and retweeted it. So could be nothing, could be something who knows.
I wish they'd just sent out their casting video at Comic Con like they always do

Eric Roberts? Really? His accent will be worse than Tyrion's. I could see him as Euron with that craggy face, but he'd ruin it. Better if he's one of the outlaws.
Is Tyrion American? I remember when he was Liz Lemon's love interest for an episode of 30 Rock. I miss that show. She meets him because she pats his head thinking he's a kid:
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
Pedro Pascal was born in Chile but has spent 95% of his life in the US and is an American citizen
Jason Momoa is from Hawaii
So they do use American actors

Sources close to the production of Season 6 tease a massive game-changing event by the White Walkers being worked on, and will be filmed by October. When pressed for details the source would only say, “If you think the special effects were magnificent in last season’s (5) eight episode, you had better prepare for utter shock coming up next year. Not only are the dragons going to be massive next season, but viewers are about to learn more about the mysterious creatures from the Lands of Always Winter.
So, will there be another battle? “I’m sworn to secrecy, but I can assure you, the scenes planned will break the Internet.”

According to reliable sources, the part of young Ned Stark in Game of Thrones season 6 has been cast. Stepping into the role made famous on the show by Sean Bean will be 13-year-old English actor Sebastian Croft.
The more I think about Ian McShane in his small but key role, the more I think he might play Aerys in some flashbacks. Looks-wise he could easily be Emilia Clarke's father.

Just an update for this story: the flashback for young Ned seems to be of Ned and Benjen sparring together, not Brandon and Ned as was previously thought. There seems to have possibly been a mistake regarding the eye colours that the casting agencies were looking for, and that the description of the 7 year old fits Benjen better, and the 12 year old fits Ned.
