I still ain't reading hundreds of pages a day but I'm definitely getting into this reread now. I forgot how awesome Clash is. Can't wait til Storm.
Crossing all my fingers and toes that Robb survives the Red Wedding this time.
You know my sister read through "almost Storm"? How the hell do you not finish Storm?!
Im at Sansa when she's holed up with Cersei, Tyrion is about to lose his nose. I'm just super tired tonight, but with some luck, I'll finish my Sunday. Home stretch, I think I have 10 more chapters
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
I just finished where Arya kills the guard and leaves Harrenhal. That's the chapter she talks with Ned via weirwood. So I wasn't making it up, after all

Powerful passage. It seems Arya is already listening to the God of Death somehow:
It was hard not to hit him when he said that. “I hope your princess dies,” she said, and ran off before he could grab her. In the godswood she found her broomstick sword where she had left it, and carried it to the heart tree. There she knelt. Red leaves rustled. Red eyes peered inside her. The eyes of the gods. “Tell me what to do, you gods,” she prayed.
For a long moment there was no sound but the wind and the water and the creak of leaf and limb. And then, far far off, beyond the godswood and the haunted towers and the immense stone walls of Harrenhal, from somewhere out in the world, came the long lonely howl of a wolf. Gooseprickles rose on Arya’s skin, and for an instant she felt dizzy. Then, so faintly, it seemed as if she heard her father’s voice. “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives,” he said.
“But there is no pack,” she whispered to the weirwood. Bran and Rickon were dead, the Lannisters had Sansa, Jon had gone to the Wall. “I’m not even me now, I’m Nan.”
“You are Arya of Winterfell, daughter of the north. You told me you could be strong. You have the wolf blood in you.”
“The wolf blood.” Arya remembered now. “I’ll be as strong as Robb. I said I would.” She took a deep breath, then lifted the broomstick in both hands and brought it down across her knee. It broke with a loud crack, and she threw the pieces aside. I am a direwolf, and done with wooden teeth.
That night she lay in her narrow bed upon the scratchy straw, listening to the voices of the living and the dead whisper and argue as she waited for the moon to rise. They were the only voices she trusted anymore. She could hear the sound of her own breath, and the wolves as well, a great pack of them now. They are closer than the one I heard in the godswood, she thought. They are calling to me.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
Almost done!! (With Clash). At the last Jon chapter. What I really need to do is organize my thoughts about Qhorin Halfhand and post about it, because this time around, I'm learning he was a boon of useful information, and losing him was pretty irritating.

I didn't realize until now that Robb married Westerling during Clash- when Elmar Frey told Arya he'd been dishonored, and couldn't marry his princess. Stoopid Robb.
I wonder if this time Ser Dontos will get paid with gold instead of bolts for delivering Sansa? Will Jaime keep both his hands? The suspense is killing me!

Does anyone else ever wonder if it's strange or if it will mean anything that she has basically just wished death upon herself here?

This is one of the things I caught in my latest reread. I personally think Arya will die by the end of the series. Or it could just be irony.

Arya is warging the wolves and the weirwood network here, I think.

It's interesting that Ned tells her she has wolfblood now, as if it were a strength. That's not the way he colored it before when describing how it led Lyanna and Brandon to early graves.
But here, Arya is literally empowered by the dead. Does she even need to warg? Or is her wolf-blood simply that powerful?

It's a fascinating chapter. Mayhaps we should start a new forensic file for it huh?

Oh, snap! This is so creepy. I was thinking of this chapter maybe a couple hours ago, because I was trying to think of ways Arya was tied to death. The next thing I thought of was the ghost of high heart, how when she freaks out on Arya, this is what she means- she can commune with the dead. Why the god of the FM leads her to Braavos, too. I just didn't have enough brain juice to start a new thread.
i need to scribble notes down while I'm reading.

Arya as the Stranger? Arya as the Voice of Death? Arya as the Blue Rose, soon enough, right? Will she be cold and blue as the eyes of death?
Scribble away! I would too, but I'm on my way back out the door.

Yeah, I'm too tired after swimming today. I want someone else to do it, but still give me all the credit. ::: I don't see a lazy smiley, but this non-sequitur smiley seems to work just as well.

also, voice, earlier today I was thinking of something I felt was significant in a Jaime chapter...I thought of bookmarking it, but pushed the thought away, thinking I'd remember and just come back and look for it, later...for the life of me, I can't remember what the hell the thought was, and I'm even questioning now whether it was the Jaime chapter!! ::facepalm:: Yes, scribbling notes is the way to go. Even if it's one or two words to help jog your memory. I'm so frustrated, I can barely read my next chapter!!
So far he had two chapters, escaping the gang from Riverrun, then later getting his hand lopped off by Vargo Hoat. I really don't feel like starting the book from the beginning again, but even if I did, I might not notice the same things.

Not sure what the process is with Siri, but I can say "OK Google... Note to self: pups born with the dead may give birth to skin-changing..." and my phone will email itself/myself with the blurb. Pretty cool. I only recently started using that feature because I like the audiobooks more than reading lately, and I can't write in the margins anymore.
