I was surprised to see KL so quiet and Cersie in one piece.
This is crappy story telling for me.
Look Cersie just decimsted the state religion.Killed a crapload of nobles and peasants with Wildfire.
So why isn't there rioting in the streets?
Excellent point!!! I assume they didn't show KL people's reaction because they didn't want us to dwell on the absurdity of KL folk not having a reaction at all.
We're talking about the same folk who hated Cersei and mocked her from the Sept of Baleor all the way to the Red Keep for the whole Walk of Punishment.
Maybe we will get something next episode. Or perhaps it will be swept under the rug completely put on the fear of being burnt to the ground by the incoming Targaryen dragons and Dany's army. After all they probably still remember the Sack of KL by the last who conquered the city.
Who knows. At this point the story is completely bare bones. I think that should make lots of book grumblers happy. No descriptions of any kind, no side stories dealing with aftermaths to slow down the story like in the last two books Just moving the main characters forward as they so much wanted.
“Don’t fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle everywhere. Always, in your mind.”
Nope, she ate the rabbit, she cannot break guest right after killing all the Freys for doing that
You're right, and great point. Now her hesitation to accept food & wine makes sense. Given that she does eat and drink, she better not touch those men. (Lol, before, I was hoping she would kill them, but now I'll be mad if she does)
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”
Maester Sam, your avatar got me thinking. We mostly assume Cersei will be killed by Jaime in a plot twist, but she's still on Arya's kill list. I know she didn't get everyone- Joffrey, for example, but maybe Arya will finish the job. I don't know if Cersei is set up for death this season though I don't expect her to make it to the end.

Okay WiFi, you had to go down...
That said, I have been sitting on my thoughts of Dragonstone for a week and I have to say they did a mehh job.
The Dany silence scene was ruined for me by knowing that D&D were likely Emmy ejaculating to it the whole time. It also made no sense--Stannis left no one behind?! Cersei didn't put a token force there after the lesson of Blackwater? Euron sails right past it without sticking some helpless sap there to come WITH a gift to woo Cersei.
Dumb & Dumber indeed!
Sam's scenes were fine. Aryan and the soldiers felt like padding, the Hound is going through confusing character growth. I thought he was okay with killing people again after the death of Septon Ray?
A compromise of betrothing Alys and Ned should have made things more interesting. Sure, Ned and Alyssa get their lands, but are betrothed to loyal lords. It would have been a point of compromise that Sansa could have offered that satisfied everyone and shows how much Sansa has grown from the pawn into the player.
Euron comes off as a fuckboy, no way around that.
I give it a 5 out of 10. Not their worst, but clearly not thinking logically in a lot of places.

The only issue I have with that is that Sansa has been forced into two marriages against her will by the age of 16, it would be strange to me if she were willing to subject another girl to the same fate. Not as weird as Tywin Lannister ruling KL for a year as HotK and not garrisoning Dragonstone but weird nonetheless.
wolfmaid7, you're 100% right about KL. That place should be a riot zone, with armies marching upon it from all the noble houses Cersei just attacked. Lazy, sloppy, and not at all plausible.
slant, I completely agree regarding Arya's hesitation at accepting the food from the Lannister soldiers. I made the same observation in the As We Watch thread. But, in hindsight, wouldn't Arya have already violated the sacred laws of hospitality and guest right when she offered all the Freys food and wine, and using hospitality itself as a murder weapon?
whitewolfstark, I was too busy laughing at Euron's jabs at Jaime to realize how petty his character is. But now, again in hindsight, it only serves to (once again) make Cersei the center of attention. Lena Headey is great. I get it. But I am sick to death of D&D's focus upon House Lannister.
I was GoT-deprived, and severely ASoIaF-deprived, so I gave it a 10 initially. But upon a few rewatches, reflection, and reading everyone's impressions, it was really bad.
This show is hot shit right now, and the only thing we have to look forward to since GRRM doesn't give a shit about finishing the series, but I do not think it will age well.
Even now, the CGI is often distracting (Dany's face coming out of the Dosh-Khaleen hut pasted on a body double, for example), and we know from the evolution of cinema that even well done CGI tends to age poorly.
Beyond that, the writing is shit. Sorry, but it is. Sandor and Cersei are the only characters driving the story forward, and they are not main characters in the books.
Then there's the bad directing... Jon is flat and predictable. Bran can't act and his wheelchair is distractingly modern.
Then there are the many continuity errors and implausible shark jumps that come across as D&D either being bad at their craft, HBO limiting their budgets, or/and a lack of understanding of their own interpretation of the story.
In short, I can't decide if the showmakers are Quentyn, Hodor, or Melisandre. Changing my hype-vote of 10, but I don't think it was a 1 either. This was definitely not their worst episode. The worst ever has to be Season 6 Episode 1, right? (Or whatever ep it was when the Sandsnakes exterminated House Martell). A 4 seems fair.

One marriage against her will (Tyrion). She went into the marriage with Ramsay thinking she might be able to manipulate him per LF's instructions. Did it turn out as right as rain? Hell no, but that second marriage technically by show canon was not against her will.

I was thinking that as I typed, tbh. That said, she says she'd rather die than marry Ramsay & LF manipulates her into it. If we were in court, I wouldn't have a very hard time arguing that the Bolton marriage was non-consensual.
