On the bolded--he's being skin changed by Bran, silly.
SOOOO obvious!
Or: he and Davos stopped off at the Dragonstone History gift shop and picked up a guide book. Stannis didn't care to keep it locked.
Or. . . I'm out of other options.
Sam is sending him weekly updates, of course. Gilly is, after all, reading Legends of the Long Night.
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”
If Bronn had any actual Sellsword brains left he'd have ditched the Lannisters and bent the knee to Daenerys, while dragging Jaime to her.
This. He seems to have a soft spot for those Lannister boys though. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just had the tinfoiliest of tinfoil theories pop into my head. Bronn could conceivably be from Flea Bottom (even though he lacks that distinctive, Davos-like Flea Bottom accent, that we know ALL Flea Bottomers possess) and it's suspected that Tywin is the hand who built the tunnel to Chataya's right ? So obviously Bronn ois Tywin's bastard son !!! Why hadn't I seen it before...
If he were Tywin's son, he'd have not only betrayed the Lannisters, but he'd demanded to be lord of Casterly Rock at this point.
Ummm ... the cave stuff was a but much. I feel like the show is forcing Jon and Dany together but it is coming off flat to me. And I don't think it's the acting. Kit as Jon actually seemed more like a human than he normally does, but Dany still just comes across arrogant and like a arsehole (again). Cave drawings in dragon stone? If the Cof and the First Men were on dragon stone, maybe they should have been mining dragonglass and not drawing cave art! Stoll, Jon is trying to get his point across, but how does he really know what he is talking about?
I've yammered about this upthread--but one more point re: the cave drawings:
They've gone to great lengths in the show (not to mention Martin in the books) to show that the children keep their record in living weirwoods.
Not in the Dragonstone Barnes and Noble Reading Room.
HUMANS left records in runes on rocks. Not children.
So much for continuity.

That's actually been challenged by Preston Jacobs of all people who noticed that it was mentioned that the COTF did carve into stone and TWOW has a whole stone cavern carved out by the COTF--which this plot cave could be a horrible nod to, but I'll say this--the description of the cave in TWOW sample chapter we got and the Pussy Plot Cave in the show aren't that similar.
I think when Jamie saw all the Lannisters burning he was reminded of the Mad King screaming "burn them all!", and that's why he charged Dany even though he knew it was going to be a suicide mission.
That's a good observation. I really think that they are going to tap into the Mad Queen theme even if only briefly.
I wonder how brief it will be.
If Jon can talk her down, maybe.
But since there's a good chance Sam will get tired of bedpan duty and end up at Winterfell for the final fight--I'm thinking Jon might be torn between Dany and Sam if Dany does what I think she will and roasts Tarly and Dickon.
Especially since they actually took time to set up that Dickon's a good and decent kid--if not overly burdened with genius.
Mel's burning of Shireen made Jon choose Davos over her. And threaten her with death. Regardless of resurrection.
I wonder what happens if Dany burns Dickon.
Here's what I think. Though I don't know if GRRM and D&D will do it. When Bran gets to Winterfell one of the first thing he tells everyone is that he needs to talk with Jon. Now Bran is tripping, as Samuel L Jackson would say, he tells Sansa she's beautiful the night she is married and raped, he knows that his sister is a psychopathic murderer who no only knows she has a kill list, but that she chopped an entire family up and baked them in a pie, which then he gave her a sharper knife than the one she had before. He also knows about Littlefinger, and yet barely acts like he cares. After all of this he still needs to talk with Jon... Why? I think that he needs to talk with Jon because he is the sane Targaryian, and he needs to stop Dany from destroying the realm.
Missendre said that her people chose Dany to be queen, and that if she wanted to Dany would give her a ship so she could go home. However, we are not seeing that side of Dany. So far it's bend the knee or you're my enemy, or bend the knee or die. Tyrion is the only reason why Jon isn't locked in a cell.
We now know that nothing can stop her and her 3 dragons. There is nothing out there with that much firepower. Makes me wonder if the Children didn't make the White Walkers to fight against the dragons, or that the Targaryians started to "domesticate" their dragons which led to their extinction because they were so dangerous.

Also, I found myself so not wanting Drogon to be hurt!
I know -- what horrible foreshadowing of his end! Hopefully, Bran will resurrect him for one final heroic effort, when the time comes. It makes no sense, but I still see Bran, the last greenseer, and Drogon, the last dragon, leaving this world together! (I'm a hopeless romantic...).
So is Westeros totally screwed for food since Drogon burnt all that grain? Also Sansa made a mention of not enough grain. Wonder what's up with all that?
AAAACK!! I just had a horrible image in my head of Jon and CO. having to eat Ghost.

I wonder if this will be the thing that causes Missandei to break with Dany, which Dany might view as a betrayal. What if Greyworm actually makes it back from Casterly Rock, but now wants no more of war, and he and Missandei try to leave Dany's ranks. I can't see where else this Missandei/Grey Worm story line is going. Unless they just wanted to add another love story! Blech!
Makes me wonder if the Children didn't make the White Walkers to fight against the dragons,
This would be a very nice twist, and I hope something like it happens. However, the Others haven't been seen for thousands of years, while dragons had only been killed off for a little over a hundred years, so the timeline seems off. Maybe dragons and an enemy like Dany were the problem back then, a conqueror that cares nothing for people, only conquest. I have questioned whether Azor Ahai is actually a hero, and not a villain! Still, the idea that the Other's might have been the answer to a different kind of war/enemy than we have been lead to believe would be great, as far as I am concerned. Both are dangerous, however, it the way that all uncontrollable weapons are!
About two thirds of the way through, it occurred to me that Dany was burning all the food. Yikes.
No kidding. I failed to mention this in an earlier comment, but what the hell was Dany thinking? The Dothraki could have hauled that food back to Dragonstone, or marched to Casterly Rock to help the Unsullied. Stupid! I suppose it's better than burning men alive, but it might be all the damn food that is supposed to get people through the winter. I wonder if Dany just went a little crazy in the battle and started destroying things because she is as uncontrollable as her dragons ultimately are!

I have really avoided all information from TWOW, not because of spoilers, but just pure stubbornness. GRRM needs to give us a damn book, not just a chapter every six months. However, maybe this is what the show was doing.
I think my biggest issue with this recent cave scene is that if felt forced, and not organic in the plot. "oh, hey, do you want to see these important to the world messages from the COF before we tear the shit out of them, and also, don't you believe me now".
What I did like about Jon in this scene is that he spoke calmly and softly about the COF, and it reminded not only maybe of Old Nan's stories he might have heard as a child, but also of the book text telling us that Ned was "the man who would sit before the fire in the evening and talk softly of the age of heroes and the children of the forest". AGOT-Bran I

Exactly! If Dany does this, she is absolutely no better than Aerys! If this happens, but Jon still think's "she has a kind heart", then I think it's a huge lapse in the true character of Jon Snow, which is not in doubt in the books, but character that the show seems willing to gloss over, in order to tell their "love" story! Blech!
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

It is possible that Bronn still has a role to play. Completely show only, but in the first season, Bronn admitted to Tyrion that he had been beyond the wall during their drinking game with Shea. They did not reveal if he was a wildling or in the Night's Watch. I assumed he was in the Night's Watch. Perhaps he will reveal something or at least convince Jaime the Night's King exists. Then again maybe he just saved Jaime because his gold was laying on the ground and he still wants his castle.

Cool point about Bronn's North of the Wall experience...
