The idea is littered throughout the parentage threads on this board, but the most concise discussion is probably in S+L=J (Yes. That's right. Be afraid) although I don't think there has much discussion on the thread lately, as it has all been in the parentage threads.
The same original essay sparked discussion on the W board, as part of The Heresy Project's look into the parentage of some major characters, but I think that threat has since been archived. This essay was written by Kingmonkey (who also wrote and is a supported of the RLJ thread for that project) but I can't find that thread anymore on Westeros. Perhaps I am not searching hard enough, but I do think it's odd that it has just disappeared. Anyway, if I should find a link to that thread, I will try to remember to post it here.
We do have some excellent parentage theories at the Hearth.

stdaga, The irish twins theory was my first original idea a few years back but he would be much older than Robb which is a problem
Irish twins??? Please explain?
Re: a dark messiah...
Of course (Sword of the Evening vs Sword of the Morning, the Night's King, kings of winter, etc). And he still may.
For all his pragmatism, GRRM still respects the superhero narrative that permeates Fantasy and Scifi. Like many Americans, he was even taught to worship one such superhero and like Christ, I think Jon will provide absolution for past sins.
But I must temper my expectations. As we mature, we tend to question the existence of such heroes, whether they are Santa Claus or Jesus. And the works of GRRM are nothing if not an anthology on the pitfalls of faith.
So I think Jon's role will be less climactic than that of messiah. I think he will fulfill a unique purpose, but do so in a way that would be respected on the streets of Bayonne, NJ.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
Did you ever stop to think that Jon might turn out to be a Dark Messiah?

A good perspective. I think Dany will end up in a villainous role before the end of our story, Jon paralleling her seems destined for the hero role. Destiny can be a bitch some time. Only Martin knows how this mad story will end.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!
Wraith , irish Twins means a couple has two pregnancies in a short period of time . So R+L=J and 8 months later R+L=D at TOJ
Never heard that expression before. I guess it needs to be the same couple? My theory is Brandon and Lyanna are Jon’s parents. Then Lyanna and Howland have Meera.

I've never heard of the expression either.
I wasn't aware that Starkcest was so big on the forum. Why Howland and Lyanna?
I could see Brandon and Lyanna being some kind of rape leading to Lyanna fleeing. Then Rhaegar "saves" her. She gives birth to Jon. Then Dany is the product of Rhaegar and Lyanna.

It doesn't offend me but just a caution to others: You don't hear it very often anymore bc it's derogatory. It's associated with Irish immigration to the United States and England in the 1800s. The implication was that groups of close-in-age siblings were a characteristic of large Irish Catholic families and typically poor.
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.

Unless Robb is also older than we think he is? There has been questions raised that possibly Robb is Brandon's son, and not Eddards. That could make him several months older than we think, and perhaps that is enough for your theory to fit Jon and Dany.
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

I think it's defined as siblings born less than 12 months apart, or at least very close in age. But half-siblings are still siblings, so I don't think this would discount any theory that you might have on Lyanna having had two children fathered by two different men.

I actually sternly believe that Arthur Dayne and Lyanna are Jons parents. Because there are many reasons for that as well as hints.
People say that nothing in the books lead to this conclusion, yet why do other people like me see many hints for that?
We must first look to the characters and how they are presented, their morals and motives .
Then we have names to go by .Martin does not write a character if the mame is not right. And after all we have an Arthur with an Excalibur thought in the story.
I recently was reading a mythology book about mythology. The name Arthur means BEAR.
And now take a look at the song 'Bear and the maiden fair'.!!! The lyrics. To me this is a very strong hint backing the A+L theory. Aemons speech to Jon is another one.
Not impossible but the timelines are tricky for that one. Also we must ask: what would that mean for the story? How important would it be and add to the plot? Jon would be the heir of Winterfell, but it might happen anyway due to Robs letter.

I think Jon is possibly older than he appears.
"I am almost a man grown," Jon protested. "I will turn fifteen on my next name day, and Maester Luwin says bastards grow up faster than other children."

I have seen many parallel's to the Bear and the Maiden Fair, this one is new. Bravo!
