Yes, Winterfell was at the time a safe place, but I suspect she thought it was the only chance she'd have to get back south when she met up with Robb. And I'm not convinced it was to make sure Robb was safe. She's making much and more of the Tully words, and her following Robb south doesn't fit with either family, duty or honor imo. We don't see highborn ladies go on campaign (a few exceptions aside) with their male family members, and Robb is almost a man grown. If she was to adhere to her house words, she'd go back to her youngest sons. And I cannot for the life of me understand that she didn't want to go to her newly crippled son and four-year-old. But that's just me.
Sometimes I just have to chalk this up to GRRM needing to tell his story. I don't know why he chose Catelyn as the POV character for Robb and the majority of his storyline, but he did. I agree that it would make more sense for her to have returned to her youngest children, but Cat doesn't do this. She seems to want to, but then is more interested in staying near her sick father. I understand that pulled her, too. Pulled her away from Winterfell and Bran and Rickon. But again, some of it I blame on the author and plot pacing.
I agree with the part about Tyrion, the rest I'm not so sure about. Not that it couldn't be the case, but I don't see it. For now.
The Tyrion stuff makes sense. I agree. His physical description leads to the idea. The rest of the idea is hard for me to even really consider, except we know that Bran can skinchange Hodor. If Hodor has sex with someone (please let it NOT be Meera) and impregnates them, is part of Bran in that fetus? It's wild, I know! But GRRM writes some wild stuff in some of his short stories, anyway. In this series and this world, I don't know how wild he will be, but I know he is capable of some crazy shit!
