gave it an 8. was entertained for the vast majority of the episode. i thought everything turned out pretty well, given what the actors had to work with. really liked Davos this ep. Tyrion and Jon was cool, as was Sansa and Bran. liked the reactions to the Dragons, and Euron's actor is absolutely killing it (based on what he's been given to work with).
overall, it was a little better than last weeks just because a bunch of things were resolved.
I liked the episode, but I still think they are talking about a lot of things rather than doing things. The Jaime and Lady Olenna scene was great, but I would have rather seen more action than Jaime simply marching in with some poison. I was happy to see Casterly Rock, but was not thrilled with the voice over. Note to director if you have to use a voice over, you are not doing your job. I understand they are saving their money in order to do really big scenes later, but it still fell short of expectations, so I hope the savings was worth it.
How did you feel about Dany and Jon? I have been looking forward to that forever and then I just wasn't feeling it when it finally happened.
We had sunshine in December and grew our roses in the snow.

I've never been particularly interested in their meeting--but I agree that it seemed less intense.
Though I think that's partly the actress--this is not Emilia's strong suit in acting.
Though Davos rocked that scene.
And I do think it highlighted the basic theme in the novels: the war for the Iron Throne is petty and pointless. "Rightful" rulers by blood are somewhat fictional.
The fight for humanity--that's all that really matters.
Now--somebody give Emilia some caffeine for her next scenes. And perhaps a Power Bar?
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.
Neither Jon or Dany are the most expressive actor when it comes to talking scenes. I cracked up when they did the whole long wind up with Dany and then Davos says This is Jon Snow.
We had sunshine in December and grew our roses in the snow.
And I'm worried that Bran has just been permanently deflated.
Bran's scene was just sort of creepy. When Sansa turned and left the expression on her face looked like she was thinking "good grief as if I don't have enough on my plate, my little brother has completely wigged out." Poor Meera didn't even get to have a line. She was probably in the castle having a shower since she hasn't had one in like six seasons, going "you don't know the half of it. I have had to drag that kid all over the North."

This episode had some decent scenes which have already been mentioned, but just like everything from the last couple years, it feels uncomfortably rushed. The events of this episode could have easily taken up most of a whole season if it matched the pacing of the first 4 seasons (when the show was still genuinely great).
"No true knight would condone such wanton butchery." "True knights see worse every time they ride to war, wench," said Jaime. "And do worse, yes." Brienne turned the rudder toward the shore. "I'll leave no innocents to be food for crows." "A heartless wench. Crows need to eat as well. Stay to the river and leave the dead alone, woman."
i thought Kit was fine in the throne room scene. i didn't really have much of a problem with Emilia in this episode either, i'm kind of sick of the whole monotone direction she's taken the character (i think Preston Jacobs is the one who made the comment that Dany in the books is much more like Emilia IRL, and i find that to be spot on), but i can understand why she's taken that route. i don't know, i thought the whole throne room scene was pretty good for all 5 of the participants (Dany, Tyrion, Mis, Jon, Davos), the dialog wasn't as clunky as i thought it would be, and Dany and Jon both dealt with the situation as well as could be expected for a crazy northman trying to mine obsidian to fight the dead and a young girl reconquering her family's 'birthright' and her offer being rejected. i loved Tyrion's comment about brooding and how he feels bad he can't do it as well as Jon... i've read a whole bunch of Emilia and Kit have no chemistry comments elsewhere, and i don't find them to be justified.
Davos, as always, stole the scenes he was in, and Cersei was nearing peak crazy (and nailed it). Jamie and Olenna was downright awesome, and i guess i'm in the minority that liked the CR montage (although i'm pissed that its this big castle instead of the Rock it is described as). still was nice to finally see it on screen after it being talked about for 7 seasons.

I'm just gonna come out and say it. I do not advocate drug use, ever, but if ever there was a time for someone to pick up a cocaine habit...
What the hell is wrong with these directors? I've said it before and I'll say it again, Emilia is actually a lot like Dany. How do you turn that vibrant, charismatic young woman into this cardboard cutout?

Really? I was looking forward to seeing some of these characters coming together, but their meeting fell flat for me. And in spite of her amazing ass (or because of it??) Missandei seemed kinda bitchy.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
So I didn't do the live thing, I couldn't hack another monday like the last two, so I just caught up now. Very telling that given the choice, I watched Peaks first Anyway, this ep was fine (ish), I gave it a seven. I'll echo earlier comments about certain parts feeling rushed, I totally agree but in a deeper sense this episode disquieted me and I think I know why. Any attempt at temporal continuity has been thrown out of the window like Bran in the pilot. I've never had an issue with how they jump about in time until this ep. For the most part they have, at least, attempted to maintain a temporal continuity within each setting or character POV but with Jorah suddenly being cured that went the way of the Dodo. I literally don't know where I am in time within each scene. I mean ffs, Euron was in King's Landing and assaulting Casterly Rock in the same episode !! Again, I have no real problem with jumping about in time but at least try to make each individual timeline have it's own continuity !!! I felt like Bran in that episode, I knew everything but it was just fragments, disconnected fragments.

1. This does not feel like home 2. I don't remember it + All the titles 3. Dany identity crisis incoming?
Oh, if only. My personal opinion is that D&D are trolling book readers. It wouldn't be the first time.
I forgot to say, my absolute favourite scene from last night was Cersei/Ellaria. I thought that Lena Heady's borderline, crazy performance coupled with the genuine righteousness of Cersei's position led to an intriguing dichotomy within the scene. I've given the writers a lot of shit, so I have to hold my hands up when I see something pretty damn masterful and that was.

And this whole mess with Euron could have been easily fixed by not showing Silence among Greyjoy warships attacking Unsullied fleet... They could just say that Euron switched his giant, 1000 longships, fleet and this is the part that remained at The Iron Islands... But no, they apparently consider the viewers too stupid to realise that these boats at Casterly Rock belong to that 'Pirate Dude'...
Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains of the moon - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Road Goes Ever On

Which is what they would have done if they in anyway cared about temporal continuity, clearly they don't give a monkeys anymore.
